My rom id is 88840017 and recently when i used map tracer, it would give me a weird error sayin my xml was bad. i tried doing everything i could and it still wouldnt work. Deleted the xml and tried opening the file and as usual it comes up as unidentified.. i messed around and used an invalid one and now i cant return it back to the 88840017 id... lol

i should stop messing around with this thing ... lol

help!

ok I'm quite lost. 1st, I could not get ecuflash to read ROM.

So I saw on the EVOSCAN 2.7 menu bar an option to ReflashECU - read/write ecu- I selected correct car and clicked read
file was created FlashImage_20110508_1727.hex

Now how do I open this file to view tables?

thanks

does ecuflash check this directory for a match?
C:\Program Files\OpenECU\EcuFlash\rommetadata\mitsubishi\evo

Is this where I need to place correct xml file for my car?

I have an USDM 05 Evo VIII

8 is between 7 and 9.

Do you know which ROM id you have? What does ECUflash tell you when you open it?

I have an old laptop running XP. The problem I'm having is getting the list of cars to select from.
I've moved all the read_xxxx.xml files to the ROM directory and still cannot get list to populate.
Installed/reinstalled latest version several times, no luck.

Oh I see. You've already read the ROM file using EvoScan, so you just need to open that file in EcuFlash (Ctrl-O to open it). EcuFlash and EvoScan both use separate XML files. You can use EcuFlash to read the ROM as well, but if you've already read it then you don't need to.

When you open the .hex file in EcuFlash it will either give you a big list of tables you can edit, or it will say it's an unknown ROM image. If it says that, follow the prompts to create a new definition and during that process it will show you the ROM id (or Internal ID, I can't remember which it says). That will be a 9 digit number, probably starting with 9. Grab the XML file for that rom id and put in ecuflash's rommetadata directory, re-open ecuflash and open the rom file again.

Click "Use Wizard to create a new definition" and follow the prompts until you get the ROM ID.

Gettin there man. AAHHHH.
So I downloaded ECU Unlocker and ran prior to starting ECUFlash.
Rom seemed like it was read, however the file looks small. When I expanded the file in ECUFlash I didn't get much info. Here's a shot.
