Thank you for replly.
It looks like I have the same issue
Ignition Timing Vs Air Temp

I zeroed all but the last two. Hope this helps.

you mean "ignition trim vs air temp" ?

just to double check, you zeroed out all except 77 & 82 c cells ?

I actually had a timing anomaly last night. It would log 400load but it clearly using the 360load column. I had 1byte load set to 2.0 as well as evoscan. I was slowly bringing boost up, hence the need for a 2.0 1byte setting at the time. All timing trims were set to zero during tuning too.

Yes that's the one. I zero everything out while I'm tuning then re-populate the table. Depending on what the weather was like when you tuned you might not have the same cells with the "0" value.

Yes, but I put them to zero and then changed the last two to -1 and -2 at Fast_Freddies advice.

In Florida, if you don't play with these tables, it will throw your timing map off big time... then just as you think you have it figured out, it is cold out and now your timing is 3* higher than it usually is...

I have a question.

a value of 5 in the hi octane ignition table represents spark is being fired 5 degree BTDC ?

a value of 0 in the same table represents ?

a value of -10 in the same table represents ?

or +ve is just taken as advance and -ve is just taken as retarded timing ?

My guess would be 0 is TDC, and -10 would be 10* ATDC.

The spark plug firing ATDC is not possible because it takes a little bit of time for the air fuel mixture to burn, so if you fire the spark plug ATDC the piston is already going down , most of the energy will be lost + knock too.

Some one can clear this out ?

Yes -10* is ATDC, retarding the ignition timing like this is generally used in launch maps for spooling turbos.

0* is TDC
10* is BTDC

Uh...the spark can fire as long as there is unburned mixture in the cylinder. Position of the piston is irrelevant. Firing ATDC is not efficient, but it happens all the same. Not to mention that the map can't run in one manner, then randomly switch function as it crosses certain cells.
