Tips for run-in tune
I'm looking at putting together a decent base map for running in a freshly built 2L which is nearing completion. I've tuned a few cars now, but never anything built that needed to be run in, so just want to make sure it's done right.
Aside from the stronger internals, the engine mods are pretty mild. Aiming for response/reliability rather than all out power:
Wiseco 1400HD 86mm pistons
Howard ultimate duty 153mm LR
Evo 9 turbo with 1810ET billet compressor
MXP exhaust manifold
GSC S2 cams with beehive springs/retainers
FIC 1050s with Walbro 255 pump
3 port for boost (aiming for 30psi once run in)
Owner suggested running it in on 25psi, so interested to hear people's thoughts on that. It will be run in on Aussie high octane pump (similar to US 93) and will eventually run on E85 with dual maps.
What sort of run in tune is recommended? Mild timing to start with like any other base tune? What about AFR's? I have read not too rich is crucial to the run in process?
