Beware of Geico

Guys,

Geico insurance rates went up for me. So when i asked my insurance to be cancelled, they said "Germany law prevents contracts to be cancelled". Since when was insurance a contract? I've been moving to and fro insurance companies for ages.

Long story short, you can cancel your insurance for non-payment. Don't let them fool you about "contact laws". Just don't pay for the following month and they will release you. Thank God for USAA which saved me $1500/yr.

Can you PM me what you are paying for rates with USAA. I figure since we have pretty close to the same cars, it should be close.

Your paying that much with an Evo? I took a huge hit coming over here. My USAA prem. in FT Drum NY (NY has one of the highest insurance premiums in the USA) I was paying $120 w/ 2 Drivers with 200 deductible. I come over here and I am paying $306 a month (my insurance went up $16 it was $290 without my VW Scirocco, which is weird for some reason I am paying more for having a Scirocco but if I had a Golf I would save $60 a month) with 500 Euro deductible. They reason they told me it went up so high was its a Japanese car and it would cost alot to replace anything. No tickets for 7 years and over 25 discount included.

The wife has 1 at fault accident, but Geico destroyed the competition for us. Unless we would swap our homeowners etc etc.

key to low rates is listing your wife as the primary driver.

Even if you have more driving time than your Wife? My Wife has only had her license for the last 2 years and I have had it for 11 maybe I will call USAA and see if that lowers the my bill. I agree with Geico, they quoted me before I PCS'd here $8000 a year which is ridiculous.

I am switching to Atlantic Trust since USAA switching their rating plan on me. Last year I was paying $2600' ish for full coverage on the evo and the BMW. Now with their policy changes (which they say it now reflects their state side coverage), it went to $4200. Atlantic Trust has me at $2280/yr and my deductable is half of what USAA had me at. The down side is no electronic withdraw - you either pay it up front, give them dated checks, or walk in every month.

Altantic Trust, is that some insurance company that usually setups up shop out the gates of the bases. I'm gonna have to give them a call and see, dated checks aren't that bad, I listed my Wife who has a clean record as the primary driver and it only saved me 60 dollars a year with USAA.
