#1 - Because if we sold our current Evos, we would have to sell the next Evo in the UK before we PCS back to the states (not >25 yrs old and not US spec,) then have to try and find yet another good condition Evo when we get stateside.
#2 - I've put in WAY too much love and money into my car just to up and sell it.
#3 - The military pays to ship our privately owned vehicles to practically anywhere they may send us.

^^ cuz your car is like your kid, you can't just drop them and get a new one (you can but that's just wrong) lol. It's more then a car it's your baby, I know that's how I see my rides. I know wherever I end up in the future my 9 is going with me.

I've owned an Evo IV and VI and AYC is highly overrated.

Thanks for the info! I DD and drag race my Evo. But truthfully I need to work on the driver mod. I want to put the car on the track and really enjoy it. I know it will take a beating there but it's like you say it's a car that's meant to be driven. I am picky with my car and I would love for it to last as long as possible but I know things will corrode and wear out its natural. I do not plan on any more power mods, the next mods will be handling but the driver mod will definitely be on top of the list.

I have an RS so it came with the non-hid headlights but I bought a 35w HID kit. So it's not that bright compared to others. Do you think it will pass with those? Also will I need to run a HFC full time?

Your headlights are likely not to pass inspection. Not because of the brightness but because of the running lights and turn signals.

The running lights need to be clear and turn signals amber/orange. I could be wrong but on most USDM Evos the running lights are orange due to the reflector and the turn signals are orange because of the bulb. Unfortunately the sockets and bulbs aren't interchangeable.

I went around this by rewiring the harness. In doing so the ecu will think the bulb is out and will do the rapid fire. Load resisters fix this. So now on my lower running lights are clear and the upper light is orange. Both replaced with LEDs. I can post pictures of it later if needed. The only part that sucks is removing the bumper cover just to get the headlights out.

Your HFC isn't an issue and should pass the sniff test. I run a stock cat and just swap out my test pipe later.

I'd like to see how you did that.
Also, It sounds to me like we'll need to install a rear fog light...

What about those of us running a TBE? The o2 sensors aren't throwing any codes. But I suppose it'd fail a visual and probably the sniff test.

I guess I may have to look into getting a lame-o catback installed for the time im in England...

Hey Russell, I just saw your post. Plans are to take it as long as I can anyways. Ill be paying for this one myself but it would be worth it to me. I have had this car since it had 1700 miles on it and I guess it has some sentimental value as well. Plus with the time and money I have spent on it I need to enjoy what it can do now lol

Btw thanks for the info oldschoolevo. Keep it coming! . I really appreciate!

I still want to. It'll be worth it to me. Fixing the lights and throwing on a rear fog light doesnt seem like that huge of a deal.
My only thing is putting the cat back on my car, which I'm willing to do to keep my evo with me

I've been in Italy for the past 4 years with my Evo still in the states. It's practically been killing me not being with it except when I go home on leave.

Buying new headlights doesn't sound fun. I have the HIDs on my car.

It doesn't seem too bad. Unless the price of taking it becomes way too much than I may consider another option. But I'm planning on it being there
