Major STOCK RADIO issues...HELP!

Not really sure what the heck is going on with my radio, but it will randomly shut off and won't turn back on for like 5 mins. When it does come back, not all of the speakers will be working. Sometimes just one speaker works, sometimes three will work. All radio presets get reset when it comes back .

My only guess is that it is overheating somehow. Seems like the longer the radio stays on, the more likely it is to start messing up. Usually when I get in the car after it has been parked for the night, it works flawlessly upon start-up. I haven't seen this problem before or heard of anyone else having these issues .

What do you guys think? Should I buy another stock unit? Does it sound like the head unit is the issue? I'm not a huge audio person, but it does get very irritating not being able to listen to music when I want to. Please , thanks!

trying another stock unit doesnt seem like too bad of an idea, as they are generally pretty cheap and readily available (i have 2 laying around, 1 out of my 04 evo viii, and one out of my 06 oz). if you want factory, that would be where i would start, personally i would probably go with an enexpensive aftermarket

I would also start with a different headunit or inspecting the wiring right behind it.

I would look into buying another headunit, maybe the Pioneer DEH-P7000BT. PM Dudical26, He has one that is going up for sale soon.

Sounds like the stock unit is shorting out somewhere. Another stocker should do the trick!

Maybe a loose ground somewheres in there? Does sound somewhat like a bad head unit though
