Hey Jon:

How's the exhaust sound with Cobb components compared stock? I bought an EVO X and will need a tune. Selling the WRX wagon.

Sweet. Will this map be available with AP when it comes out?

How many maps can you store in the AP?

Its highly unlikely that it controls all aspects of the ECU, but I'm sure it covers the typical maps that most people are familiar with.

The stock ECU is extremely sophisticated. There are literally at least 100 tables that contribute to overall performance. The Evo 8/9 ECU has been available for disassembly for many years, and when Cobb released the AP for the Evo 8/9 about a year ago, they did a good job of finding many of the useful tables, but they didn't get some of the tables that are handy for certain things. Considering that the Evo X has only been available for less than a year (maybe a year for them), it seems fair to conclude they haven't found "everything". Just being realistic. As I said before, I'm sure they got the common ones, and hopefully they will provide ongoing support for the X and continue to add tables as they find them.

Cobb has critical tables that OS does not yet have.......
So Cobb> OS
Im also working with them on 3bar map and several other things that would be nice to have inside the roms.

It was only about a month ago that the first Evo X version of ECUFlash went to beta testers. Thanks to one particular individual, quite a bit of progress has been made in that one month. I would guess that you've browsed through some of the xml files that have been posted. Much more has been found in recent weeks, but this kind of thing could go on forever so at some point, everything that is fully defined needs to be cleaned up and put into the first release. The first release will have the typical tables that people expect to see. I imagine that for the next couple years, each update to ECUFlash will include more tables for the X.

I think many people were let down by Cobb's lack of effort put into the Evo 8/9 AP. It sounds like the X AP will have much better support. Will be interesting to see the AP will provide enhancements to the ROM beyond the live tuning that they have for the 8/9.
