i thought it was a know fact the higher you go with octane the earlier spool you will have. like wise with held boost if wgdc where left the same you would have more boost. thats what happens with mine anyway

400whp is +99whp than I presently have. Unfortunately, I have another trip to Iraq ahead of me until I can do anything additional with the car. I'm willing to bet that power level will keep me happy for a while.

It's certainly possible that the EBC wasn't configured for spooling propperly, however more than likely, the turbo spools so much faster because of the much increased exhaust gas expansion with e85. As E85 burns slower, it is most likely still burning when a large cam vehicle opens the exhaust. This means that the expanding gasses leaving the cylinder are given the added kick of fuel particles still burning (expanding) causing more mass to expand across the turbines.

Many people on exotic fuels (methanol/nitromethane/etc) are required to use a larger exhaust housing to prevent too much manifold pressure (and thus, heat pre turbo.) This has the added benefit of more potential power up top, and the fuel's increased mass fights the longer spool times seen with normal fuels and larger exhaust housings.
