Will race gas help at all?
Will race gas help at all?
Hey guys
i am currently tuned at about 25-26 psi on a built 2.0 evo 8 with a 35r kit. the car made 506 whp @ 25psi.
my question is if i were to put straight 110 octane in my car without touching the timing or anything, could i raise the boost up lets say from the 25-26 to 28-30, without having to touch my map at all? or would i need to adjust everything and set it up for race gas.
This would be done on straight 110 no mixture.
im just wondering to see when it comes to track time , if i can do it or if it would be unsafe. plus would doing straight 110 get rid of any knock that i have?
thanks

What octane was your current results?
You would see gains immediately with 110. A tune on top of that would be advisable to really make the most of it. But even untuned you'd be ok.

also will the stock ecu adapt to the 110 and compensate for the a/f since i dont want to adjust things on the tune already. nor do i have money or time to go back for re tune for race gas.
A higher octane will give you immediate results. But if you plan on keeping that octane as your regular setup (+ those results) you need a re-tune.
The stock ECU won't adapt but any potential knock at 93 won't be present using 110so your numbers will be WAY higher on 110.
I'm stuck with 91 which is ridiculous...

^ nice thats my main concern since i am seeing a small amount of knock but it's enough to pull timing so if i use that 110 then ill gain timing back. and that sucks for 91 man lol
Of course you'll see gains, lol But you may blow something up, What you'll have to worry about is your timing, and fuel delivery, there is alot more to it than just turning up the boost.
Hey man I could be talking out of my ***, but I don't think it's a good idea.

man that's your risk it's not a good idea. Adding race gas will reduce knock but only if your tuned for it. what your talking about is risky. If you do do it, and turn up the boost, post the results.
Your going to destroy something, tunes are vey specific they push your car to the limit's. They are meant to optimize the car and when you deviate the input it's going to change the output, and in most cases that's bad.
If you want to run 93, and 110 mix then go and get tuned for that mixture. The easiest way is to get tuned for 93, and get tuned for 110 save the map files, and reflash depending on what fuel your running, you'll just need a laptop to handle the flash.
