Question on 2.3l dyno numbers

The car made 537hp 404tq on 100oct at 26psi i could not be happer with it. She pulls hard all the way to redline im reving it to 7300 right now just scared to rev the stroker to high right now. On 93 it made 465hp 389tq at 22psi with denatured alky still reving it to 7300. On the gates which is 13psi it made 333whp which is perfect for the street for me the gt 4088r is not that bad on lag untill it gets heat soaked but i hit full boost around 4900 and carried it to redline. My question is i see guys putting up numbers lke that on smaller turbos you think someting could be holding things up? the gates are recirculated back into the exhaust, mods are

2.3L Stroker
Wiseco pistons
Eagle H beam rods
BR ported intake manifold
BR ported 65mm tb
Supertech valvetrain
Cosworth 272 cams
1000cc injectors
BR fmic
Garrett gt 4088r bb turbo twin scroll
Dual 38mm tial wastegates
Custom twin scroll manifold
Perrin MBC
Aem meth kit
Aem 1320
RSR Exhaust
Walbro 255 pump
537hp 404tq 26psi

Seems kinda low for a 4088...

I would raise that limit to 8000rpm...

13psi on a 4088r? Wow, of course your not going to be making big power, that turbo is COMPLETELY not even in its efficiency range! At least keep it at 23psi on the street on pump gas, youll be making mid to high 400's, thats perfect for the street. And you dont need meth/alky if your going to run 22psi, since people run that little boost with just an intake and exhaust! Hell even cammed, ported intake manifold/tb, full bolt on evo's run 25psi without alky.

Whose your tuner if you dont mind me asking?

The guys making that power on red turbo have power curve that hits 1000+ rpm sooner. If your goals were 350 street and 525 race you made a poor turbo choice if you ask me. should have used something way smaller for better all around response.

Dave Buschurs recent project white (2.3/red) makes 400tq at 3500 rpm (and 496tq at 4000rpm ) on his low reading dyno. you are making that 400tq at 5000rpm??

If you couldnt be happier thats what matters.

alot more boost can be had with that size turbo safely on pump gas of 100 octane....30+ should see good power

To answer the question I don't run it at 13psi that's just what the springs in the gate are at I run it at 22psi on the street. I did not choose that turbo I just got a great deal on it from a guy who had money trouble. As for the tuner I'm in Norfolk va so I got a guy here to tune it for me other shop nearest to me is dtm which is 3 hours away and ivey which is 6 so I guess I need to look them up. The car feels great but I thought the numbers were low thanks for the advice fellas

Just because its a good deal doesn't mean it wasn't your decision and you 'had' to buy it!

A 4088 won't make killer numbers until you start pushing 30, 35, 40psi out of it! So either run E85/alky and turn up the boost, or cry because of all the midrange you could have had by going with a stock-frame turbo setup

537 is decent on alky though. Post up the graph

Yeah im trying to take a crappy cell phone pic of it i dont have a scanner, and your right man i did not have to buy it but for 600 dollars i dont know how many people will turn it down. **** 30psi is alot here in va it stays hot in the summer and is humid as hell we just got a e85 station about 25 min from me but i really need to get the car to ivey or dtm and re-work the tune first

Post up a dyno graph...

For the guys comparing the 4088r to a Red, LOL - this setup made 537hp 404tq on 100oct at 26psi - you would need to run a Red over 35psi on C16 to break 500hp, certainly not apples to apples...

I'd hold off on taking it to another tuner. For only 26psi and a low rev limit, your numbers are right where they should be. In fact, they look pretty healthy to me. Your tuner is only going to push the car as far as the owner is comfortable with on the dyno. So if you're just not comfortable turning up the boost and revving it out, you're simply not going to make the record numbers that everyone expects to see.
haha and don't blame it on VA weather, lots of us in VA run 2bar and >8k

actually 30lbs with meth would do it just fine.look at the last 5 threads on the reds and youll see

I took your advice and took a close look at the last five threads (and most of the FP Red dynos on this site) and stand by my statement! In order for the Red to match the power of the 4088R @ 26PSI - it needs to run 35-40PSI! How long do you think the Red will live at those PSI levels? 4088R can run those PSI levels all day long...

The Red has its place, but it can't hang with a 4088R in terms of power output at a given boost level - that my friend is just physics...

FP RED dyno results thread

More data than anyone will ever need on the performance of the Red on different boost levels with a great sampling of different setups, dynos, and tuners from around the country...
