My dyno was on a Mustang Dyno also. It is set at 31 psi on the stock block with the methanol. It's like when I got mine tuned I was seeing all these stock turbo/stock block cars making close to what I had. If you look at the threads on the dyno section there are some ridiculous numbers, almost unbelievable, on the stock stuff. I like the GT30R on my car because it's my daily driver, and it spools just a tiny bit slower than the stock turbo. I have a 99 civic coupe that has a JG engine dynamics bottom end, Skunk2 head, and it makes 700+ fwhp on 35 psi with a full interior, stereo system, A/C, power steering and street legal. It has run 10.68 in the 1/4 on street tires, I wasn't driving a really good driver was. My personal best was a 11.84. But anyway, like I said not hating, just would make me too nervous to drive the car. It looks aggressive, but it would make me drive like a grandma on sleeping pills. Now on AMS's dyno, a dynojet where I got it tuned, it made a little over 600 awhp. I had previously had the car run on the mustang near my house before the tune and it made 368 awhp and 349 ft lbs, after the tune at AMS I went back and it made the above numbers. It really is amazing what a good tune/tuner will do for a car.

I honestly think Emery is one of the best tunners out there. And the cars he puts out of there proves it to me. And he is a small town guy, with a small town shop. Well used to be a small shop. Its actually a big name now and a lot of people know of them not just the cars he works on. Ive been talked to about him from SRT-4, cobalt, mustang, and a few other owners before he ever listed anything besides DSM or EVO on his site about getting work done and I will reffer them to him.

James the car looks great. Get Justin when I come back and do all 3 white evos built by STM photo shoot or even all the EVOS/DSMs we can get together that have been built or tuned by them?(what do you say Shawna, want to be hired for a shoot?lol but serious.)What front lip is that? Did STM make that CF piece where the clock goes?

Chris

chris, i built that piece myself and it was a lot easier then i thought thou i dont have the tools anymore, they got lost in my move. oh well sucks but ill get new ones eventually.

myevo8you, i honestly have no idea what your saying about your evo or your honda. but i think a space inbetween the words would help. but i think in the end it was a compliment on what emery can do on a stock motor, so thanks!

thanks everyone for all the kind words

If you have a front facing turbo kit on your car you will just have to realize that your car is not really a daily driver anymore; however, I feel if you're to the point where youre doing a 35R kit or bigger regardless of how it's mounted you probably have a second car at that point to get you around during the Evos downtime. Once I'm out of college and have a better paying job I would like to take my car in a more serious direction towards drag racing so to me this kit would be perfect and if something were to happen I would be in a better position to fix it financially.

Where in the hell did you get this information from? A dynojet DOES NOT read crank horsepower. It reads WHEEL HORSEPOWER.

Where have you seen a stock evo put down 287 horsepower on a dynojet?

I dyno'ed 480 on a dynojet. Does that mean I'm making under 400whp??

You can daily drive a front facing kit no problem. Just slap on a block off plate in inclimate weather. You might need to get more touch up tunes especially if you live in a 4 season area.

why are we argueing about dyno numbers they dont mean anything, only the times the car and driver can produce

i'd never run my motor on a dyno with a pathetic fan trying to sumulate the airflow
you'd get when driving. wtf is that shop thinking?
the kits great but you will regret not fitting a filter i will have a paypal wager with you.
is that the screen you was on about fitting because if it is that turbo/motor wont last long.
the smallest of dust particles will play havoc with the blade tips.
even fine mist pre turbo water injection was damaging turbos tested long ago.
only trying to help save $ no dig. except the shop comment.

Coincidentally, I was reading a thread last night started by David Buscher. He and another shop dyno'd the same Evo IX on the same day ~1/2 hour apart. Buschur used a Mustang and the other shop had a DJ. The DJ recorded 281hp, very close to the factory claims, and David's MD got 215hp(IIRC). This lead David to hypothesize that DJ actually tries to read crank HP. Whether that's true or not is open to debate, but if one considers the basis for DJ's design, a lot of questions come about. But, that's another thread in itself.

The shop in question was thinking let's build a manifold hat us different and unique to promote our business and start a new craze with evos, and while they were at it they went on to crush every stock block record that was out here. So when emery gave me the keys back and gave me his inside info on how he drove the ricer(the original big daddy) I listened cause I think he might know a few things about driving a car with this kit on. So, I will take your paypal wager, you just need to tell me how long you want this bet to go for. This kit has no need for a filter. A filter would hinder exactly what a front facing turbo kit was designed for. The most direct air you can give it. Not the most direct air you can give it after it finds it's way around a filter that has a rubber cap on the top, the exact rubber top facing the exact way the turbo is. If I wanted somehing with a filter I would have gone more traditional. Trust me I have thought long and hard about what turbo kit I wanted. Cause if even the smallest particle of dust or rain would destroy a turbo we would all be screwed if we started our cars. A filter does just that, it filters it dosent stop every small bit or water or dirt or dust or lil tiny bug. But it does stop he really big stuff. Check the inside of your filter rub your fingers on it. I'd say they dont come out completly clean. And if that's the case.... Your turbo is just as screwed as mine. So good luck and happy motoring!
