Tomei was very CLEAR about this turbo. It is not designed for max power. It is designed for responsiveness.

I just tuned a 2.3 stroker with the Tomei turbo and it behaved EXACTLY as Tomei said it will behave in their write-up. They made 430 crank hp on an Evo 9 2.3 stroked motor. We made 385 whp and 397 ft-lb on an Evo 8 2.3 stroked motor. If you consider that powertrain loss is about 18% on an AWD car, then our number is 454 crank hp. Our car had 264/272 cams, though. But we had the STOCK CAT. With a test pipe our numbers would have been higher.
The car gained 103 hp and 110 lb-ft over the stock 03 Evo 8 turbo. Full boost with the stock turbo was at 3750 rpm, while the Tomei was at 4200 rpm. So we lost 450 rpm in peak spool up. But at 3800 rpm we had the same 21.xx psi on the tomei that we had with the stock Evo 8 turbo at 3750.
THIS WAS ON 91 OCTANE GAS.
Basically, Tomei delivered exactly what they said with this turbo.

Still not buying it. A larger BBK would have a tough time doing that with the same equipment at that boost and the brick stock cat.
Sorry.
Cossy stroker is 2.2L btw. Running a $15,000 motor with a stock cat is recockulious btw, but I'm sure you know that.

The owner is an older gentleman who does not want to deal with the smell/police. I told him the stock CAT was a restriction.
He might get a UR metal substrate HFC. I also told him to get some 280 cams with springs so we can rev the car to 8000 rpm.
I am just posting my findings from today's tune.

Believe what you want. I did not build the car, I simply tuned it. It was built by Technosquare in Torrance. It made 383-385 hp and 397-395 ft-lb CONSISTENTLY in back-to-back runs.

Corrected for temp and baro
Uncorrected
So now we have two different road dyno programs giving similar gains. The corrected numbers with VDR are pretty close to the numbers with DLL.

i'll be pissed . . . . . .
If I spent all that money and got ONLY 385whp on a stroker motor no less.
Guess I'll have to pass on the Tomei turbo.
This is done on a DJ too.

Holy necropost batman... also in addition, reading through this thread makes me want to hit some of these forum members with a ****ing brick to the face.
