The owner obviously hasn't checked up on their tune in WAY too long. Periodic logging should be part of regular maintenance. This is why tephra's KnockCEL is awesome, you'd know if the car was knocking all the time w/o even hooking up a logger.
Yeah, the particular tuner in question had been tuning that way long after ECUFlash was out as well. We don't need to go into it any further though...it just shows you that some people know and care about what they are doing and some just want to take your money.

That is a darn shame. The someone was more interested in getting the cash and not concerned about the owner of the vehicle

Thats the most hideous fuel map i've ever seen. Looks like the guy had turrets syndrome.

Good thing you got everything sorted out and the car running a lot safer now.

Thank god for knock sensors ........

Scott , when you "qoute" the 1st post you can see another "tuner" name in the quote .

LOL.. I just noticed that too... I still do not know why people waste their time with that tuner.

Good job Scott. I just ordered a few things from you yesterday. Hopefully they arrive soon.

That's the first time I've ever seen a "20" in the AFR map. I hope I never see that again. That previous tune was absolutely ridiculous. Plus, I'm not sure what loads they were hitting/dropping down to, but, that ignition map was way past MBT- especially for pump gas.
Even when I first started tuning, my maps never looked like that.
Kudos to TTP for rectifying the situation. I'm impressed the block/head lasted that long with that much knock occurring.

Looks perfectly fine to me...

If you are trying to see if a tune really can pop a motor...

I think this proves two things though,
1. Knock control can save your *** in some situations
2. The 4G63 is damn near idiot proof

Thank dog they left the knock control alone. With all that knock, the car was running probably 0 timing or less. I wonder how many miles this car/tune has been like this.

The tuner is a vendor here. If you read the other posts, it's pretty easy to figure out who it is, bro.

its most likely a VERY old dynoflash tune..... but the tune was probably fine at the time of the actual tune, you cant expect to keep a safe tune for years after you tamper with the vehicle 100 different times.

No. That tune was never "fine". EVER. That was a major hack job and shouldn't be ran on anyones car. Deosnt matter if the OP changed parts or turbos or anything. That tune was a hack job and is the completely incorrect way to tune an stock EVO ECU.

In Al (dynoflash) defense, this tune is probably very old and was probably done with Techtom (old flashing software), which is done it all hex and very, very complicated, compared to ECUflash.

Still the tune is unacceptable and never should have been put on anyones car.

I agree, but Al's a very good tuner these days, so those **** tune days are long gone for him and that should not stop anyone from going to him for a local tune up....
