Stock ECU SD, pump 93, HTA, BR built long block

So on Tuesday afternoon I took my car up to CBRD to try to finish dialing in my SD patched 94170025 V5.10 ROM.

I had to engine redone by Buschur back in June when it made 474 smoothed and 480 unsmoothed back in June thru a stock MAF a 4-3" reducer coupling at around 30 ish psi. David made a thread about it then so it should still be on here.

Id been driving the car through the summer and enjoying it ever since. I took the car to a DJ and it picked up about 11-12%. Still wanting more I decided to give the SD patch a try with a straight 4" intake a huge K&N 9x6x4 filter. I got a MSD/GM style IAT/MAT sensor welded to my UICP and an Omni 4Bar in the plenum.

The car came out well in my opinion. I didnt want to run asmuch as boost as I ran it up to but it was knock free at that timing. If I added one degree above 6K I would start to see a couple knock counts at even 2 less psi! The car held out knock free at 33 psi on straight pump Shell 93 Oct.

Final numbers were.

531 unfiltered 525 filtered 33 psi

Mods of the car:

BR Drop in JE/Crower set up
BR Stage 3 head
BR BF272 cams
BR ported IM/TB
BR COP
BR Race FMIC with pipes, Crushed and Sealed 1G BOV
BR/Shearer Tubular 82mm HTA turbo kit in a .63 5 bolt housing.
FP 4" cast aluminium intake pipe with 9x6x4 K&N Filter
PTE 1000cc Injectors
BR Double Pumper
Omni 4Bar
MSD/GM IAT/MAT sensor
Exedy Twin HD
Greddy Racing Full Ti 80 mm exhaust, No cat

I have to a say a HUGE thanks to Buschur Racing for the engine work, The ECUFlash Forum and the MANY MANY people envolved over there to make the car possible the way it is! CBRD for the Dyno Rental. And all my DSMs over the years for taking the beating to make me love my Evo the way I do and not turn it into a POS hacked up cars that some turn into. I flipped 37K miles on my way home from CBRD. And has everything that came in from the factory A/C etc.

NICE! That power line is still climbing too. How much does BR charge to drop in rods & pistons?

must be a fun ride with that much power.

has their been any issues with the drop in setup ex.oil usage, diesel engine sound? i am looking to go that route also.

Good job, any plans for tuning on higher octane?

My setup is just about the same as yours, minus the built longblock (this winter ). Good to see another stock ecu SD self tuner

Awesome power on our dyno,

stock ecu pump gas record!!

we were hoping to make 530/430 with a BR built 2.3 stock ecu car here in the next few weeks, proof again that we can make awesome power on stock ecu.

now you have me wanting to try speed density.

Nice flat torque curve, that looks fun! E85 would make this car PWN!

BR charged around 800 for labor plus parts misc etc. Ive been very happy with my drop ins. They have about 1400 miles on them now and Ive changes the oil twice at 600 each time. Ive been running a racing 20w-50 so far in the car and it has not used a drop of oil at 600 miles at both oil changes. I mean exactly on the full mark right where I filled it to. Also the Drop ins were done around 35600 miles.

The power looks like its still climbing but its really at where its stats to plateau. I think that was to the tenth of 11th pull that was done in a row minus time for a quick reflash. I never made more peak power past after 7500 7600 rpm.

Im liking the SD so far. It seems as if no matter what I try either the mid or low trim still wants to walk out of line over time. Im getting close to getting the car where I actually want to be etc.

Id like to do a 100 oct tune the way the car is. Ive never had any luck with 112 and never tried 116. I will add that Ive made 7 more whp on CBRD dyno on Sunoco GT260 unleaded then I have on Sunoco 112 blue supreme.

Im also at 92% injector duty cycle as the car sits right now on straight pump 93 shell. Thats at 33 psi. I think leaning the car out on 100 and pushing it a lil more might make 56x around 35-36 psi. Then its more fuel or bust

Thanks for all the great comments!!

PS Timing was still at 6* at peak torque and around 19-20 at 8k. Still with stock knock tables!

I wish we had E85 around here. I would probably die of excitement first

Nice. Do you ever bring it down the drag strip? If you do you might vaporize that Exedy clutch! Good luck with it

Thanks Chad! you guys are awesome. I love how every time I come up and do well on my own tuning that you guys always have great things to say. Thats says alot out you and your staff!

I am worried a lil about the Exedy twin HD. BR told me it should hold a lil over 500 whp MD aslong as its not launched regularly. If it werent for that i would probably go to a SMIM and run out of fuel
