John -

That car is an animal! Another great tune by English! Looks like a good combination of parts and tuning!

Thanks,

Michael

I really do believe that the 4" ETS intercooler is why my car (even on the stock block) could always run more boost than most other EVOs

My 1g DSM is also running the ETS Race intercooler and seems to consistently be able to run huge boost numbers.

What car does the 2.4 lower end come out of?
It would seem like a good street motor, Who built this?

There are several cars that came with the 4G64 block, search around here a bit, the list is posted.

English Racing, with my requirements picked the components and did the Machine work, I did the final inspection, cleaning, tolerance checks and the assemby.

As with all of my car toys:

"I bilt it myself"

There is one interesting thing we learned in Johnny's car that we didnt know in mine even until later. The MIVEC feed bolt has a restrictor in it which our line kit did not have. Replacing it allowed full MIVEC control so the car is actually spooling faster now than it was in those dyno sheets. It probably needs a retune again to be truthful.

The MIVEC oil feed banjo bolt is a check valve as well as a restrictor, the car runs much smoother with it installed in the ER 4g64 MIVEC oil feed system:

So with this restrictor in place is it still necessary to modify the mivec gear due to the increased deck height or will keeping the restrictor allow for the needed range to compensate for this?

You still need to modify the mivec gear.

Nice job Aaron. The Black looks great!

I will be coming to pay you a visit when I get back. I'm in NV for 3 weeks. I should be back on the 29th. I need a new meth kit (meth won't turn off, had to pull the fuse) and a few other things. I want to push this Red a bit harder.

check valve keeps oil pressure at crank during idle. same job as check valves on the squirters.

restricter would limit excessive oil pressure at higher RPM. much like FP restricter in turbo feed line.

now somebody tell me how not having it would make the mivec not work correctly. I am not suggesting its a good idea to leave them out. I am just suggesting the mivec would still work just fine without them. at least I dont see how it would not work correctly. Mivec numbers may need to be adjusted differntly due to gear recieving different oil pressure curve.
