wow, if i knew this, i would have kept my 8 turbo and build the entire engine and get 500whp. Any body wanna buy my almost new fp red 80mm?

penthouse if your being sarcastic, go over on the dsm forums. People hit 400whp+ with evo3 16g regularly now and as i said one guy hit 499whp with a evo3 16g. Being as the evo8 turbo is more efficent at higher psi, why wouldnt 500whp be possible?

400whp on the stock turbo is pretty easy. 500whp...maybe in the absolute perfect case, with perfect mods in cold weather. JohnBradley's post for example, is running E98, extremely modded and running 11:1 aluminum rod engine.

You're still limited by the fact that the turbo can flow around 43 lb/min max. I'm maxing it out right now on E85 as are many others. I'm nowhere close to 500whp (about 400wtq/400whp for now on VDR) although I don't have the biggest cams, IM, ported head, nor an aggressive timing curve (about 0-16 IIRC).

From what I remember, the EvoIII 16g flows the same amount. So, even if the efficiency is slightly better (if this is in fact true...we need to see both compressor maps), the max numbers shouldn't be too much different.

probably fully built race engine with big valve head, huge cams, big intake manifold, 25psi wastegate act. and c16 race gas should be making close to 500whp on stock 8 turbo.

A big evo3 16g flows 38lbs/min.

It would probably take either c16, 93+meth, e85, or e98.

Does anyone have a compressor map for the evo8 turbo? and a evo3 16g?

JohnBradley and l299rgst, some of our more experienced members/tuners do you see a problem with the data in red?

Where did you get that from? I have both maps and they appear to be the same compressor wheel or at least from the unlabled maps I have they do. Both roughly 43 lb/min.

You may be thinking of what was commonly referred to as either the small or big 16g in the DSM world. Those flowed roughly 36-39ish lb/min, respectively.

Not if the pumpgas was E85 and/or the uncorrected numbers were done in -20* weather.

Right for MAP website.
The ever-popular EVO III Big 16G provides the most bang for the buck in a DSM bolt-on upgrade. Featuring state-of-the-art compressor design to increase compressor flow to 39 lb/min, the EVO III Big 16G also includes a lightweight 7cm2 turbine housing cast with a superior high-nickel alloy. The EVO 3 Big 16G is a brand new genuine Mitsubishi turbo direct from Mitsubishi Turbo North America (beware of imitations and deceptive advertising) and requires no modification to intake, exhaust manifold, oil and coolant connections for installation

I've never heard of an Evo III big 16g. It's been quite a few years since I have been on the DSMLink boards, but when members were upgrading to the EvoIII 16g, it was a compressor that flowed about the same as the current Evo8 16g does. And my compressor maps appear to be the same map as well.

39lb/min sounds like the normal 'big 16g', which was a popular upgrade for DSMs back in the day.
