If you've read this thread from top to bottom, then the conclusive evidence is clearly stated IMO: If you crush the MR DV about .250", then you will get an increase in midrange power and torque. This comes at the expense of some drivability issues, however. As Bryan clearly stated you will get DV flutter uphill upon upshifts during light throttle applications. Me I can live with the flutter.

A crushed MR DV will hold up until approximately 28#. This has also been clearly stated. Over 28#..... you will need to invest in a "more tricker" DV/BOV setup.

yes i have read the thread, and i have also read numerous other opinions. my question was based on wanting to know his impressions on daily driving after crushing it further. this is something i have contemplated on many occasions. i was unaware of the fact he rolled his vehicle if so i probably wouldnt have asked. i know that flutter will occur, driveability issue may be present and a properly crushed BOV will hold somewhere around 28lbs. just researching and trying to get as many opinions as i can. sorry i might just reserve my questions for wiki next time...

bump, any more tests? I will be crushing mine soon just seeing if anyone has anymore input. I know on the 1g DSM BOV that you are supposed to crush it until the nipple touches. Is .25" about as good it's going to get or crushing until the nipple touches going to help anymore?

Has anyone tried taking the BOV apart and putting in a stiffer spring? I've put stiffer springs in WGA's before. It really wasn't that difficult to do. I cant imagine the BOV being that hard to take apart.

Based on CBRD's recent recommendation, I'd rock the Cobb BOV:

Quote: Why are people still crushing BOVs? Properly modding by eliminating the fast release port will allow the valve to hold more boost than crushing, and will allow greater opening of the valve since you're not shortening the spring height.

I did excactly this mod to a ix bpv, and turned it sideways so it was a pull type with a fast acting port hooked up so it was like a synapse. The problem was the bpv was already crushed. So now I have an uncrushed valve now, that is about to get the same mod
