I read that paper too... RA168E They were limited by boost pressure and fuel octane in 1988.

How about methanol puller engines? 200+ PSIg charge pressures, no IC.
It's alcohol. Enthalpy of vaporization. Not impressed.

Octane seems to matter most to the test engines they determine octane on, not modern designs.
Say that out loud to yourself a few times... You're realize how stupid it sounds.

If you're running in semi-stratified or full stratified charge conditions all the 'rules' seem to go out the window. Look what is happening with the current GDI setups.
Physics always applies. If the fuel isn't sitting in the chamber it's not being heated by it's environment... the higher the injection pressure, the cooler temperature it's injected at... (Still nothing like 2500 bar injection) Just because you don't understand it doesn't mean that it's black magic.

Not disputing the fact heat goes up and down when you cross stoich for that fuel, or that power suffers if you go too far rich or lean for a particular set of circumstances, my question is when is it 'bad'? The only answer I've ever been able to say for sure is 'when you get something in the chamber so hot it causes preignition' at that point your engine is fuct in a very short period.
I would say that wonderful area of fuct is between 13.5:1 and 15:1

And it goes into a freeforall. Bottom line. I have been in 600+whp pump gas 35r+ cars and am fairly certain one has riding out for 40k plus on the same built motor and setup with only different tunes involved and I am a believer in the pumpgas. Not taking sides, not taking arguments. I would have any good tuner, Ernie since Freddie knows his stuff and tuned the car a little bit after moving to Jax and of course FP's tuner. Have fun with it. I will once I send off the turbo for the Black.

Just to be clear, the HTA Green requires FP's oil line kit right?

Naw, no need for a bunker my friend. Just a friendly discussion on how to blow stuff up!

I still love driving this car, that was the point that I really wanted to make - just how much fun it is to have a EVO that runs this well.

There will always be a lot of different opinions on any topic, how to tune a car isn't an exception to that rule by any stretch. We like to post the logs so everyone can see what really happened during the pull, we have done it before and the same thing happens . I knew it would incite some interesting conversation! I wish more people would put up logs of their pulls.

no it does not BUT if you want a warranty you better get one . Fp is not going to make a part if it serves no purpose there is a reason besides warranty to use the line but of course we all love choices this is America and we americans love having options

It'll happen when the car gets off the jackstands this year.

The fact about the oil lines is at higher boost levels the cartridge needs better flow and that's why FP make the kit because of oil starvation or the prevention of it. Such a small cartridge needs better flow to spin like a 35/37r.

Great setup FP! I am really anxious to finally get mine tuned here tomorrow. I am not sure what numbers to expect as I am on the stock ECU and 2.1 not 2.3. I have a few more bolt-ons so it should be interesting to see how things compare (I run mostly E-85, though). It is a great turbo, nonetheless, and something that everyone should consider if looking for a stock frame turbo that has 0 lag and can really produce some powerful top end.

Thanks for a great product!
