Simple Evo IX set up results
Simple Evo IX set up results
Hey Everyone,
Just wanted to share my positive experience with Shaun at Full Boost Racing, and Khiem ( Tha Shop ) in regard to my 2006 Apex Silver Evo IX GSR SE.* *
I went there wanting to get a tune the day before I hit the track, and they took the challenge no questions asked!* This was even after normal business hours!
The night before I hit the track, Khiem installed a 3 port boost controller, and shortly after my car worked its way over to the Dyno Dynamics Dyno were Shaun worked his magic and hashed out all the bugs that were later discovered from poor mapping done by the previous owner trying to self tune.* I guess he didn't know that there are actually three maps that the ECU looks at for engine operation.* He only changed one, and in random places!
Anyway, that night I ultimately ran out of fuel pump, so Shaun was limited at what he could* do - 244whp (278whp corrected) at 25 psi on 91 octane.* In order to make sure my track day went smoothly, Shaun made sure the AFR's were safe along with no knock being found anywhere in the rev range.* And I back that up; I did not have any issues the next day at Streets of Willow* O0
That next week, Shaun and Khiem hooked me up with a good old Walbro 255 fuel pump so that Shaun could really get to work at cranking out some f@*#&*g horspower!
The AFR's immediately dropped after the stock fuel pump was replaced.* That night Shaun at Full Boost Racing ended up cranking out 281whp (320whp corrected).
After the ECU went through learning the new settings and adjusting the fuel trim, Shaun really went to work, and finished off the tune - going through all the MIVEC timing maps along with a few other things and picked up a boat load of torque while at it!
Final numbers- 284whp (324whp corrected), and 310 ft/lb of torque (353.4 ft/lb corrected)
Set up is as follows:
- 91 octane
- 24psi of boost
- 3 port boost controller (ECU controlled boost)
- Walbro 255 fuel pump
- JR racing drop in high flow air filter
- Stock air box, IC, and UIC / LIC piping
- Stock turbo
- Stock Cams
- Megan divided 02 housing
- Megan 3" downpipe
- Megan 3" resonated test pipe
- Custom 3.125"* "stealth" exhaust w/ a 3" resonator and a Black Magnaflow Muffler courtesy of me and a can of high temp spray paint!

The turbo response and torque is freaking amazing!*
I'm pretty damn impressed with the results for such a simple set up!
