hey Zeus, heres a guy i just did on the fp green on stock block and head.. he also has the hks cams im curious because his car takes racegas timing on the 98 oct shell vpower that he runs and he claims its 93oct us equiv? i find that hard to believe when it takes 18deg+ at redline. curious does your car take that mmuch also? this is a evo 7 tho.

he opted to keep torque low since stock block.

What intercooler is this guy running? He may be running 93 octane U.S. pump equivalent but maybe he throws a can of octane booster in for safety's sake. Also what were the ambient temps? There may be a fudge factor as anything over 17* is right on the borderline. How much boost and what ambient temps and elevation?

I'm running a Greddy spec-M intercooler kit. Definitely not running any octane booster at all, this is just straight Aussie Shell V-power (98 RON) out of the pump. Here's the Wiki link to that fuel if it helps at all http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shell_V-Power

Ambient temps on the above run were about 25C or 77F. Boost is on the graph above (around 25psi tapering to 21 at redline). Elevation here is about 580m or 1,900ft.

It's certainly freaky how much timing it's taking

Reason I asked in here is cause OP has same cams. HKS (oldschool) cams are known to have dowell wrong. we checked the timing and he was a few deg off the crank (T) mark. same experience I had with HKS (oldschool) cams and my car took 7-8* on e85 at peak torque around 4000rpm LOL. If I put that timing now on my car it would grenade in a dozen pulls.

hi
so i am running straight us 93 octane fuel, no octane boosters at all. i run 28psi. i cannot reveal timing or other log information. i posted both 90 degree heat runs and a colder run to show how temp can effect whp and torque. i am in manchester, nh usa which is no greater than 300 or so ft above sea level.

I can appreciate you don't want to reveal your timing maps, but can you at least advise if you are anywhere near the ballpark of 18* up top on your setup like I'm seeing?

We're just curious if the HKS 272 cams might be a common link to the engine taking such high levels of timing on pump gas

I am not really a doubter, zeus. I am just curious that's all! It is great to be able to run relatively high timing out the top on 93 with the old school Green. Congrats! Has the turbine housing been ported?

We dont care about your tune, I can duplicate your tune with my eyes closed.. I was just asking help to see if these cams are all the same or not.

simple question "do hks cams allow a evo to take more timing then normal?" simple answer: yes or no?

your response: "i cant reveal that data" ---------------------------------- ok.
i am not a tuner so i honestly i do not know if hks cams take more timing or not. i just do not want to reveal a map i paid for that is all, but since you can duplicate the tune with your eyes closed why do you really need to know anyway?

i didnt ask for the timing map, and didnt expect to see it anyways. just wanted to know if your car was taking abnormal timing, but you wouldnt know since you dont know how to read the map i guess, so im sorry i will just post it in the Evo Engine / Turbo / Drivetrain.

I just assumed you knew enough to answer my question.. if not i apologize for getting alittle rude.

no idea if it is taking abnormaling timing or not but i dont know why it would as i have a pretty limited mod list. i am not a tuner so noteducated in reading the map. definatley post up in evo engine/turbo drivetrain for feedback--zach
