thanks Guys for the kind words!! Huy and the guys at Inline Racing will be prepping the car for tonight. As soon as i get off work... i'll be putting over there in my daily and hope i can drive this thing to a solid 9 sec pass. I've never launched the car on this new setup or on the hoosiers, so a bit nervous if i can get her out of the hole correctly. But we'll see tonight.

All of the machine work/balancing on the bottom end/rotating assembly was for this anticipated high rpm abuse. As well, as the work/parts on the head.
I honestly wasnt concerned w/ oil flow in regards to the lifters or anything else on the upper portion of the motor. But that is a good point i suppose.
Has anyone experienced failures w/ the stock bore size lifters at high rpm? I've seen stuck lifters on practically stock motors... so i know they can fail period. Just havent seen any fail directly due to high rpm. (yet)

during the motor build i was thinking of using those oversized lifters, but decided to stick w/ the stock mitsubishi hydraulic lifters instead. They have been working just fine. Oil pressure has been great, but i'm also using a good oil (Brad Penn 20w50)

i talked someone who has a evo which is revving 10k.. he was using a oil restrictor with oem lifters

i think it is a very important point..maybe you and your crew talk about it..maybe restriction is a good point maybe not
My builder actually brought up the point of me buying the Jackson Racing lifters for my build. I sent a quote with those on there to Adam@MAP and he said they are pretty much just OEM 3g lifters, but they do carry sets called ITM that I may go with. They are fairly cheap, and might as well be on the safe side..
Info on lifters would be nice though! haha. Having to upgrade lifters is kinda new to me.

yes, this must be similar to the one Kiggly uses for dsms. I was assuming our newer head designs eliminated that need on the evo 4g63 vs the older dsm versions, but i could be wrong. I had the oil pressure relief spring shimmed for higher pressure. W/ the Brad Penn oil im getting about 110+psi of oil pressure at WOT all the way to 10krpm. Cruising of course is around 75psi. Therefore i never worried about it... assuming i was just good all around, i guess.
as for the larger bore... i would think that the size of the bore would be directly related to the weight/force that lifter would need to exert to operate properly. meaning its bore is sized for that specific head's design? I would think a stock bore size lifter operating at 7krpm would still operate the same at 10krpm as long as the oil pressure supplied to it was stable. As the lifter isnt supposed to be moving much during operation, its holding up the rocker arm against the cam using oil pressure. The side of the arm that is moving is the valve spring/retainer side. Again.... that is just my personal theory on it. I have absolutely no idea if that is correct or not. Maybe the additional force of stiffer springs would overcome the stock bore lifter at high rpm? Is it even relavant if the oil pressure is stable? Anyways, that would be some nice info if anyone has tested such.
But yeah... so far havent had any issues. Every evo that came from this shop has stuck w/ the stock lifters (if stuck/failed) they just got new stock ones. So i really dont know if aftermarket ones really work better or not?

i like oem parts..in your situation going to after market lifter is not a solution.. maybe solid ones+tomei 280's??

but in some case having a bad experience will be expensive

Last friday i had to let off half track and broke a mivec gear.
This was fixed over the weekend so we'll be out at Houston Raceway Park (Royal Purple Raceway) and hopefully make our first full 1/4mi pass down the track. Good or bad, i'll post the results. The half pass i made last week was a handful on the hoosiers. The car doesnt want to stay straight in the lower gears, so I'll do my best tonight!
