Sure it is still a Black! It has the same compressor wheel and the same turbine wheel as any other Black. The compressor housing is an FP surge port and the comp wheel is the standard Black compressor wheel. So, ultimately his compressor flows the same as a standard FP Black compressor...at least on paper.
The turbine wheel is the same as any other Black's turbine wheel. Even if it were a clipped Black turbine wheel. It would still be a Black. The turbine housing is the standard cast 10.5 MHI casting that has been ported.
If the turbine housing is ported....so what? Most Blacks have ported turbine housings. So, Mikey's has a more extreme port job than most from R/T Ernie. It is still an MHI 10.5 single puck housing even if the flapper is non-functional and there is a remote gate instead of an integral gate.
It is merely a ported FP Black in my book that is all. No big deal. It is still a stock framed turbo. The housings are stock castings. The wheels are the standard FP Black wheels AFAIK. So, what are you griping about?

I think that Spec-Ops and Mikey have been upfront and transparent in letting everyone of us in on the mods for their record breaking Evo. There has been no shroud of secrecy or deceipt.
Like Freddie says, the turbo in question is just an ordinary FP Black with a fully ported turbine housing and a remote gate. You could just as easily swap on a standard FP cut 10.5cm housing. Both wheels are standard FP Black issue. Likewise the compressor housing is a standard off the shelf FP 84mm "Flow-Advancement" cover. Finally, the turbine housing is just a standard MHI single puck 10.5 casting that has been ported by R/T Ernie.
All else remaining the same it is just a Black with a ported turbine housing and a remote gate instead of the factory flapper/actuator assembly. Nothing more.

Thanks Spark, I am not here to try and change peoples minds about what can or can not be done with these cars... in the end it all comes down to semantics, and whether they accept the accomplishments made or try and poke holes in it... regardless we will keep striving to provide the best customer service possible and keep shooting for our goals in this industry
