FP Red vs FP Black pump gas comparison
Does it feel any different on the street? When I went from Red to Black, the turbo hit full boost at a very similar RPM, but the Black felt like it had to "wind up" a bit more when you punched it from a roll -- a difference in transient response.

on pump gas we consistently see similar numbers from the red to the black...octane/hotside seem to be the limiting factors. once you get better fuel we start to see the black stretch it's legs.
heres what i seen when i tested a car red vs black http://www.myevolution8.net/vrsf/keath2.jpg
my test isn't good either, because the previous tune didnt have optimum spoolup for the red therefore the test made it look like theres no lag when really there is lag..
you WILL feel the difference light to light red vs black.. the black is a bigger turbo so expect it to react like one.
Would i be wrong to say
a red is more like a 3076R
while a black is a 3582R
theres quite a difference once you raise the boost in a red vs black.
same here
but all smiles after 5k...
Is this truer on 91 octane than on 93? Or, are they about equal on 93 too?
Very interisting information!!!!
One question for use FP Black:
If I only have FMIC AMS, HKS cams (272 ex/264 in), methanol (50/50), exhaust manifold, and 1,000 cc injectors, can I put the FP Black????? I now, I can!, but , how much power can I get with my mods??? Maybe I can change the 264 ex cam, but how much power can I get??
Ahh, internal motor with forged pistons and forged rods (standar 2.0).

if you could stuff a 42R compressor wheel into a housing it wouldn't help much because you're still limited to the tiny hotside that can only expel so much heat. heat is a killer on all normal pump gas 91-93 most commonly in the US. With e85 you can overcome the heat and keep knock away. that's when the black will begin to outshine the red.
how much of a difference was there in regards to city driving & transient boost???
pretty much when your getting on the fwy or accelerating a bit while ~3k in 4th gear while on city streets, etc...
i went from a black, tme, hta grn back to black in ~3 weeks time on a 2.3L e85 motor...
i liked the green, it's city driving is great, no surge in 5th gear on the fwy = awesome...just wished it had a bit more up top.....
i wish i knew the full facts on the differences between the grn, red & blk turbos...
im just trying to find the balance for me with regards to city life & wot performance.
interesting dyno results.
