Talking 735hp/580tq *hta86 2.3*

I finally got a chance to take my car to the dyno. I have been working on this build for over 2 years now. I wanted a car that had 700+HP and run 9 second 1/4 miles but also a car i could drive everyday if i wanted in full trim. A/C,sunroof, ect Pretty much a stock body GSR.

I drove 7hrs to AWD Motorsports. Mike was nice enough to let me tune my car on his dyno. Here is the result.....

Mods are in my sig. E85 fuel. Their dyno shows almost 43psi peak but i have a brand new 5 bar sensor and it reads 0 KOEO. I logged a peak of 41 psi tapering to 36. As you can see I am having some ignition problems. Whats funny is i ran it at this boost here and it ran fine, get to the dyno and as soon as i hit 700 it was busting up. Figures..... I'm going to play with the coil dwell settings to see if i can get the coils to charge more. It would have hit 750 for sure but i had already spent $300 on the dyno and i had to get home. If i can get the ignition right it will be more than enough.

I also got some vids from the dyno. One of my 735 pull, if you listen closely you can hear it breaking up. The other is me paying too much attention to the AFR guage and not watching the tach. I hit the revlimiter at 8500 resulting in a nice backfire. My friend said he didn't jump but you can see the camera shake. LOL

Hopefully i will have some 9 second time slips soon.

BIG thanks to:

-ALL my friends that helped me with the car even though i was sick of it and would rather be laying on my couch.

-Adam@ MAPerformance for all the great parts and for being the coolest and most knowledgeable parts guy i have ever known.

-Aaron@ English racing for some great advise when i didnt know who else to ask.

-Mike@ AWD Motorsports for letting me use his dyno for a few hours.

And last but not least big thanks to the EVOM community for keeping this great car alive.

Dude....B A ...

I am glad to see that it all came together. That should be a kick in the tail on the street at this level.

This car should be a monster on the streets with that power band, HTA3586 is one bad a$$ turbo. With a little tuning here and there this car will make 780-800whp and not to mention this will run 9's for sure . Great job, now go have fun and enjoy your street monster.

Hey man!!! You forgot to say thanks to me for talking all that **** to you about your car. Lol. All jokes aside, congrats for doing a great job on tuning the car, and building a badass Evo. I know all the **** you went through trying to get your engine sorted out, but you still got **** done in the end. Once I finish my 2.4 and whatever turbo build you, me and mrtalon20 are going to line it up at the air strip and race. I guess south GA does produce the baddest Evos in GA!

The 735 pull was in 4th, the backfire run was in 3rd. Once i got to 700hp i was just lighting the tires off in 3rd so i had to start making 4th gear pulls. As far as making 800hp, for me enough is enough. There was more in it, 750ish without spark breakup. Plus i only had the total timing @ 13 degrees, im sure i could have uped it some but i wouldnt have been able to be sure i didnt past MBT so i left it. I am very happy with the setup i have, i know swaping to bigger cams would get me to 800 but i am loving the torquey BF 272's with the 2.3.

lillev23, thanks for all the motivation.... You know i dont like to be takin down! Im saving the engine story for another thread. Maybe if we all have our cars running at the same time we can run them 3 deep on the air strip. But you know ya'll going down right?

Thanks everyone for the comments. I have put soo much blood, sweat and tears into this thing is sure feels good for something to workout with it.

BTW, i got a chance to take it for a spin tonight with my updated coil dwell settings. Runs like a champ now and all i can say is WOW! This thing is fast as all hell.
Its amazing even though it blows the tires off in second it still tracks totally straight. Gotta love AWD.

so the graph looks wavy due to the ignition misbehaving? i wouldn't have attempted mbt either with that much discrepancy in power differences.
nice numbers none the less though, and tell me when hitting it at 3000rpm when does your rpm tach start to take off?
