^^What Mikey said, If your doing cams you might as well do springs & retainers too...I threw a set of Supertech Duals in when we did my S2s...

And yes, this was on the OEM 6spd box.
Wait....You ran these times with the 6 spd??? Impressive sir!! Obviously you are shifting to 5th because if you tried to stay through the traps in 4th & run the MPH you did you would be over 9000rpms, haha....

What are your shift points? I am very interested now...I won't have the funds anytime soon for the built 5 spd & t-case I want, so I am gonna have to push the 6 spd till its donzo...

I watched the video and he stayed in 4th. The MR and IX 5 speed have almost the same mph in 4th gear (within 1mph if i remember right). Evo 8 4th would help tremendously.

The OEM 6Spd is holding up good I'm surprised you didn't have to shift into 5th.
Whats the specs on the wheels? Did you use spacers? Are you using the stock brakes up front?
Thanks Sean...to be honest I don't know the exact specs on the wheels but I'll find out and let you know, but I did have to use spacers up front though to clear the brembos (which answers your next question...stock brakes)
I was considering shifting to 5th, but since these tires are taller than my 18" street setup I didn't have to take 4th that far (8200rpm according to my logs)

NP man...Aaron really is the best though, he and I have been in contact on numerous occasions offering advice and pointing me in the right direction.

That was the main reason I didn't go any further on the dyno, I didn't want to push it anymore (I knew that where I had it was good enough power to take the 11 sec trophy, but was hoping that I would have the chance to go for the 10pass)
And I know there's a lot more left in it as this was only @ 30psi.
I would recommend doing the springs and retainers just as added insurance...I originally had the S2's on the stock valvetrain but when I went up in the powerband I experience valvefloat...so I dropped in a set of supertech singles and have been good ever since.

Very true, it's not worth the risk.

Yessir, the stock 6spd...remember that I'm on much taller tires so you have to take that into account. I crossed the light at the top of 4th at I believe 8200rpm.
1st>2nd I shift early like 7300rpm, 2>3>4 I shift at 8000rpm, and 4th I just hold out until I cross the line.

Yea I definitely would benefit from going with a 5spd conversion...who knows maybe that will be in the near future.

I know this...Whenever I do my 5 spd swap, it will be a IX 5 spd with an VIII 3rd & 4th gear...

Thats crazy the tire size made that much of a difference, damn...Makes me want to get a wheel/tire setup like yours and see what my car will do...What is the exact tire size you are running?? I am running 255/40/17 Hankook street tires & I have no problem cutting 1.6x 60 fts on them...But if I were to try and stay in 4th and have an 8250 rev limiter I would only trap 120mph if I'm lucky...you trapping over 8 mph more then that at only 8200 is sickkk....

You would need a 255/45/17 to = the same size tires as him. Although his probably grow more when hot so who knows what size they really are.

Yea this definitely isn't an apples to apples comparison...plus the fact that our track isn't a fully prepped track either (trackbite etc.)

OH Ok you have METH, I have just pump gas I missed that part. I made 454WHP and 400 FP's with my 84MM FP Red and S1 cams. at about 29PSI falling to 27PSI. I bet if I got S2's I could get another 20WHP up top.

Yea I have meth but do remember this isn't my regular street tune...this is my strip tune...which is a 50/50 mix of Q16/90oct pump gas without the meth.
On the rd I usually run a little conservative...26psi with the meth (443/345)
Yea I'm sure the S2 would give you a pretty decent gain up top (and not lose much down low either )

Yeah, a 45 side wall would throw off the speedo some, that is why I went with a 255/40, closer to stock size...
