evo 8 with fp black and 93oct & 30psi + comparisons inside
I'm not trying to criticize the tune or the build. It just seems like something is probably off mechanically somewhere. In any case, it's tough to compare the turbos when you are also putting a Comp 272->GSC S2 cam swap in the mix. I would actually expect those cams to pick up 20+ whp alone up top compared to the Comps even keeping the turbo the same.
run the 6 spd until something breaks.. i can control the torque easy on e85, i dont see it dying anytime soon. keep tq under 400 and it should be just fine for your style of driving.

from the information i posted, you can gather that the fp red spools quicker then the black by quite a bit, but the fp black breathes way better past 6k.
if you're after more HP in general, then i definitely recommend you choose the fp black. The black will make about 30-40whp more then the red normally.
This car has always been a pain in the *** to extract power with. I've done a bunch of evo 9's with fp blacks on stock blocks with 93oct and they normally make around 480-490 with a few more mods.
Really though if you want to safely run 500whp e85 is your easy way out. Its very easy to make high numbers on e85.
33psi was to much for the octane yes. if we put e85 in this car it would make some good numbers im sure.
do you have an evo 8 or 9?

I have an 03 Vlll with a 9 turbo, I'm def going for the fp black my ultimate hp goal is around 600-650hp. Built motor of course. No e85 where I live so thats out of the equation, It's only 92 oct 100 oct or c-16. That's why I was kinda hoping to see a little more hp on pump, but after your explaintion with this particular car its understood.
Always good info from you thanks.
I know the timing is back in order this time, had to change the water pump once again as it seems the previous Shop used a old pump so it was leaking. We also double and tripple checked timing but comps may have done better. But im sure we got more in it tom never let me down before.
Ok little update, We trouble shot the car for the fact power was a bit lower then we liked so we did allot of drive logs to see and fix some of the SD issues and it turned out my Wideband Gauge was fried along with the sensor which had enough carbon build up to fill a soda cap. I also had a older model AEM UEGO so I just upgraded to a newer one. So I will update once we get my A/F back in order and when I say my A/F was off I was in the lower to mid 10's.
this car spools amazing on the street for a stock evo 8 2L engine and fp black.
Leaning it out some will up the power, so will update with better results hopefully for peak #'s

and heres the o2 sensor LOL

Lol, did not expect youbto post the carbon junkie wideband o2 lol. But I have a MAP REV2 going on Saturday.
I am not to sure, I should look and pay attention but I dont, I know I fail. But we started getting the A/F back in order and the SD tune back where it needed. I was haveing a issue as when we put the New AEM on it was straight lean reading - - - and the car would bog and hesitate. We started fixing the A/F and getting that back and as we did the car did not want to take the same boost leaning it at. We were at 32psi on 93 and it was unhappy now with the proper readings and the SD being fixed so we dropped it 2 psi and the power came close to the same at 32 just a little less but not much.

I'll stop by sometime man, to see the shop
