GTIsRule Road Race Evo IX

I have known Jason for the last 5 years and have watched his car go from stock to mildly modded all the while all his mods focus around road racing. While he has been known to drag race sometimes, he loves lapping days and that has been how he chooses parts.

Jason has also shown alot of self control in how many parts he adds and how much power. He never adds more than he can control so it has gone in alot of little stages. LICP and tune, exhaust, EBC, SD, switch to E85, and most recently he felt the need to add some power in the form of S1 camshafts.

It is interesting to note that while we still have more parts to throw on the car this was the only change this time around. We have a JMFabrication O2 dump on order after the results that we saw on Keith's 2.4/FP Black road race car, but it hadnt shown up before he needed the car back for a hillclimb event.

Here is the before and after, stock cams to S1s at the same boost level and AFR-

400 whp is definitely a lot on a road course... hopefully he enjoys the new power! The torque curve does look kind of strange to me, with the double peaks... any idea what's causing that?

S1s were the only changes this time around, the car had previously been on SD and E85 (365whp). The 40whp gain and 30 ft lbs across the board was cams only.

There was a little lower timing down low which is why the torque came up and dropped off a little bit then came back. Amazing what 1 degree can do in a dyno sheet.

Great gains! Did you just drop them in and dyno or tune the car afterwards?

SD car so we have to retune to make them work correctly.

Any reason not to toss in the extra degree ?

Probably just because being a track car. The car graph looks great and I'm sure the owner is loving every second of it.

Its crazy but the car would intermittently pull it without knock. It was the edge of 2 load cells and if it was enough to one side it would either have it or it wouldnt. I did add it back in and both sides of the load column.

The other thing is its a stock bottom end car so I am not trying to hammer the bearings out of the bottom end either

This is a thing of beauty , i have a soft spot in my heart for road race cars on the stock block . i wonder why...

I know you guys work with GSC a lot i have S1s that are well over 2 years old and have always made great power, have they revised them much since then?

Im pretty sure mine were the first batch after they cured the breakage issue.

The S1s have changed a little over the years but the last 2 years I believe are relatively the same.

that graph make's me smile. 22psi stock bottom end 400whp... Thats about perfect for an evo and a road course.

getsideways: if you have a set of S1 cams that are 3 years old or newer than you have this same profile. This profile has as much cow-bell as we can give a lobe to use with the factory spring reliably.

awesome work Aaron as always thanks for sharing your work!

That is some nice power Aaron, what wastegate is on there? is it preloaded any?

I ask because my current setup drops from 30psi to 23-24psi... i have a 25psi and preloaded without cutting threads. I know the 9turbo runs out of steam up top, but just wondering.
