Both E-Spec and Pharmcis can attest to this when they put the car on the rack and went through all the gears with the car lifted. Back part of the shaft (the AWD part) was vibrating like mad.

Yes, I am not very happy to hear that my brand new AWD Motorsport 2 piece driveshaft was not balanced at all according to the local driveshaft shop in town. They said there was no balancing weights ever added to it. Hopefully it is all straight now and the crazy noise is gone now. Had to spend another $150.00 to get it all rebalanced.

Technically it's all AWD parts, front and back. The front section is reworked so that it unbolts from the back section AFTER the first carrier bearing. In a stock DS, the front section unbolts just in front of the first carrier bearing.

I was quite surprised to see how bad the back 1/2 was vibrating when the car was run on the lift this AM. It was pretty bad even at 30mph.

you might want to test the rebalanced shaft first before getting excited. my guess is from building many shafts myself over the years is the vibration will still be there. but hopefully for your sake it is gone.

The shop that balanced the DS for us will be building a custom unit that is similar for my shop car. I should probably be able to come under AWD's pricing so I'll let you know!

I make 300 tq at about 4200 rpms 443 tq at about 5633 rpms and I started the pull at 3k. That isn't to bad at all and when you drive the car even on a 2.0 it really doesn't seem laggy at all unless your starting from 1000 rpms per pull. Like someone suggested what turbo are you compairing to this because I would like to know as well?
Since I have the EF3, I really enjoyed reading this thread. I will be on the stock 2.0L for the near term but my plans are to run a 2.3L with a goal of 500whp and 400wtq on E85.

Well things are different now for my car. I didn't have a very good boost source going into the mbc so now I have a better one the car acts totally different.

That is good to know.

I went with the Rev2 intake manifold, by the way.

Drove the car home last night. Wow what a difference having the drive shaft balanced made! The rattle can noise on decel (unloaded drivetrain) is gone. Now I hear what I expect out of a car that has had every major component upgraded, a nice whine on decel like a shifter cart!

Still a bit of rattle at the front section of the DS, but it's so minor compared to the sounds of donkeys being molested that the rear section was generating beforehand.

I'll have news about a replacement DS sometime after the first of the year. Taking over a stock DS to them hopefully tomorrow for them to start working their magic.

Pharmecis test drove the car last night with the new clutch. The noise and vibration in the driveshaft is gone! Breaking in the clutch now. Will comment more on results next week.
