1. Because it can be done and done safely if you have a good tune and a good combo.
2. If you're not ready to do a build.
3. If you have a perfectly running motor, why not run it? How do you know he wants a 63 block I. The future anyways?

Nice numbers man, what's the plan for the future?
So your numbers are stock block as well? How many miles?

It transformed into that at 65k miles, and its been like that for only about 6k miles, and 6 months.

Madness.. I am not as brave and I don't think I will wait for it to kaboom.. I know I am already on borrowed time given this more tq so early. No need to waste a good block. It's going under the knife soon for a 2.3L and I will baby it until then.

You can use the stock intake Mani for a long time. I know evos that run the stock mani up to 700whp!

Appreciating all the great feedback.. Thanks guys.. keep it coming!

The bottom end build wouldn't be as big of a deal to me if I didn't already know I would be going for more power down later on. My ultimate goal is around 600hp\550tq. Plus if it kabooms now I am out a couple grand more after a new block and whatnot. My budget is $5-6k so I am weighing my options as to what exactly to have done and by whom.

Doesn't mean there is nothing to be gained from upgrading.

At that power level you are probly holding back over 40whp

Let's just say the decision on who to have build it isn't as easy as those on evom think it is...

my opinion is to keep the car as it is. this kind of power has been proven to be relatively safe. My car makes about 30 more HP and I don't feel anxious about it one bit. These cars are made for boost, and have a lot of knowledge behind them. it isn't like an unknown platform just coming to market.

I have gone through builds on other cars. They give one a false sense of security. Once you open up that motor, it can open a huge can of worms.

Justin, I wish you the best, but I think your decision is more influenced by having a few grand that is burning a hole in your pocket and a new toy you want to throw it at

While the motor is proven, holding this much power is a time bomb, no matter how you look at it. Even more so in this case, because with the BBK full, 30psi at 4100 and such a massive amount of torque, the load is higher and stressing the motor harder and sooner than if he was running say an FP Black.

Opening a motor is opening a can of worms when you you choose bad parts and bad shops. So many people say "I've run 600hp on a stock block for 2 weeks blah blah blah". There will always be someone who has done it, it isn't meant to last. The smart people will take preventative measures, especially when having so much already invested. Having a reputable shop build a 2.3 and keeping all else the same is a great idea.

my motor has been 515-535 dynojet for nearly 30k miles.

I've been down the preventative measures road.... there are NO guarantees.
