we saw a big difference on my car as well on Davids dyno...my car had the old school K&N adapter and wide diameter filter while being very short. Needless to say David found it and fixed it

Yes that's true BUT your K&N was ridiculously small.

I think I might pick up one of these to match to my Magnus custom speed density intake pipe. Right now, I have a brand new AEM filter but in comparison to the filter below, it looks to be pretty small. Thank you for showing that it is not always about spending a lot of money to free up power.

You can use that filter on a 4" inlet but it is angled, that filter is intended for our FF kit.

I picked up 60 whp on my Camaro by cleaning a neglected K&N. Didn't even notice the gradual decrease in power but knew something was up as soon as I saw the dyno numbers. Couldn't believe the fix was so easy (and free). This was an NA car making about 350 whp.

FWIW, I have a pretty small K&N filter: 4.5" tall, 6" opening, tapered to 4.5". It is mounted on a 3.5" intake tube and a BPi velocity stack with it sitting out the front of the car like a forward facing turbo would behind the grill area.

Pulling off the filter did absolutely nothing for power. No change in AFR was recorded and this is on the speed density patch.

A dirty filter can definitely cause problems, but even a small K&N had no problem at the 350HP level when it was clean.
