we felt it was the best tire that fit into the 140+ tread wear category. the star specs were the second choice but our experience is the rs3 is far superior to the z1. did you have any other tire suggestions? we are open to alternatives in that. we have a few ideas rolled up our sleeve actually

The RS3's do great for multiple hot laps. the Starspecs work better in cooler temps or rain.

There's that cheaper Federal 595 tire. I haven’t personally tried them but some claim they have had better luck with them than the RS3's.

Heh, pretty cool build. My car was already modded far beyond stock classes when I bought it, so I've been learning to race on a 400+ whp car, which is tricky as the speeds are just insane. This is probably the best of both worlds, you get to learn on a stock power car, but plenty of headroom to go TTU when you are ready.

Well..............hahaha, at first I was thinking, "Oh ****ing boy, now what." Thanks for the laugh though!

Good luck to you, great idea on the power/driving. It's amazing how fast a car can go around a road course with low power numbers. I road race an '06 FWD V6 Eclipse in TTD, it holds both track records at Mid Ohio and makes 240'ish to the wheels and weighs 3472 with me in it. It's definitely more about driving it than the power the car makes.

Best of luck to you!

Thanks! People don't believe how much fun I have on the track until I come into the pits with a huge smile on my face

I get this all the time:
Random Corvette or M3 owner: "Damn, that thing is fast! What have you done to it?"
Me: "Nothing, it is stock."
Random guy: "Oh " (walks away)

Even though it is built to handle gobs of power, people have a hard time coming to grips with the fact that I only have 250hp. This must be what the Miata guys feel like.
