Lowest HP Buschur motor ever!

I'm starting this thread as kind of a joke and I hope David gets a good laugh out of it.

I had Evolution Dynamics build me a race car for NASA Time Trials. I've had a fast car before and wanted to slow it down a bit to work on my driving skills. So, KevinD and I decided to build the car for TTC.

If any of you don't know about the Evo 8 and Time Trials, the car is started in the C class with the maximum number of points. This leaves modification options almost nonexistent to stay in the class.

We built the car with future intentions to progress up to B, then A, then the unlimited class. Since I have already experienced mechanical failure, I did not want that to happen again. So, I built a race car capable of 600whp all day long in the Texas summer heat. But as it sits now, it only makes 247

Performance mods:
Drop-in K&N filter
Evolution Dynamics 2.5" test pipe

KevinD was only able to adjust the timing and fuel. We had to use the stock boost controller. The maximum HP allowed for my car in this class is 260, so I am very happy with the results.

Non-performance mods:
Evolution Dynamics roll cage
Buschur 2.0L with 9:1 CR
Shep transfer case, and rear diff
235/45/17 Hankook RS3's
Hawk Blue brake pads
Racing Brake drilled slot rotors
Brake cooling ducts
AMS front cross member
FP beehive springs
Setrab oil cooler kit from MAPerformance

And here is a dyno video I made:

Hopefully the shep 5 speed can handle it.

I gotta be honest.. its good to see someone slow things down to work on the finer things of driving skills... but dear GOD man you've taken it to a new sub level lol. Good show and get those skills up and then turn everything the hell back up!

I tell people all the time to learn to drive fast you must drive something slow first, Mojority of the time its true and allows you to learn where you are giving up a lot of free time on the track.

^^^And truth be told, this car is so much more fun to drive than than my old 06MR track car. It is cheaper to run and much less stressful to race. The Hawk Blue pads and Hankook RS3 tires last forever, and I'm running 93oct getting about 5-6mpg at the track. If I happen to mess up a turn, I have plenty of time to correct it and think about it next time around the track. And if I happen to make a really bad mistake and go off, it is OK because I'm at stock ride height so I just go driving over everything.

Very nice! I would love to get behind the wheel of a true TTC evo like yours and see what kind of times it would lay down on our local tracks.

I was toying with the idea of putting my car all the way back to stock to get to TTC, but it was too much work so decided to go another route. If i knew back in 2004 when i bought my EVO what I know now I would have done exactly what you did.

What made you go with a 2.0 for road racing as opposed to a 2.3 or 2.4?

Exactly! It costs major points to increase displacement. And KevinD can easily tune the car to obtain the maximum allowed hp as I move up classes.

Cars that run reliable are more fun than cars that are really fast and unreliable. Nothing worse than missing out on track time because your stuff broke.

Have you tried other tires rather than Hankooks? I don't like them at the track. I feel they are sub par for their class... What do you think about their performance?
