yes if I were to do a WOT pull it was not a nice experience lol but I could do short shifted wot pulls and yes when I got back I had magnus go over all the logs and everything was great.

I still gave a lot of cars a spanking at 36psi on the wrong tune and wrong gas lol

Your car and all the parts on it are only as good as the tune you have to use them. You can safely drive on a crappy tune but stay out of boost until you get it straightened out IMO

I already called Buschur and he told around $300-$400 to install the kit. So 1K sounds too much for a turbo install.

It's like other people said, why risk it? It MIGHT be ok, or you MIGHT get aids..or in your case blow the motor. This should be a no brainer..
OK that not right at all The point you are trying to say is not the same point as mine. But i understand what you are saying about driving with out a tune.

dude if you can stay out of boost and just keep the car in vacuum you will be fine keep your eyes on the a/f ratio as well drive easy and you will be ok, in no time 200 miles will be up.
stay safe and good luck!

Ok i wont be able to know if i can keep it out of boost or not. I will be mostly driving on the free ways, but my problem is when i need to enter the free/or pass someone i might hit boost. I understand to keep it out of boost is a safe way, but i wont be able to know if she will go in boost or not until i am driving on my way there.

Can't you set it so the waste gate stays 100% open so you wont' build any boost even if you floor it? Safety wire it open? I don't have an evo, but if you do that you won't build any boost.

You can set the WGDC to 0% or just unplug the boost control solenoid. The it will open at whatever the WG spring is, so it will build some boost.

My advice to you is yes you can drive it in vacuum and it will be fine. Don't risk it entering a highway or a pass. Drive it like a grandma. It's hard to stay out of boost mentally, but in reality it is very easy to drive it around and never get out of vacuum.

I think it's fine if you leave the boost stock and drive you car there. Call buschur and ask them what they think.

I highly doubt your really going to make much boost on that turbo driving at a normal style pace. Even so, the measely 2-3psi you would make(after all your not flooring it or letting the revs climb all that high) arent really going to be enough for any danger.

When on the highway you can keep it out of boost.. but what most are missing is this:
When you are in the spool up range of the turbo initial spool.. you want it rich.. or you'll go lean stupid quick..given your turbo you won't see full boost till around 5k like others have stated.. but initial spool up.. thats where you need to be careful. Yes you can remove the wastegate line and let the spring do its thing.. but your still gonna see positive boost pressure which will hurt you if it goes lean..trust me it can go lean FASTER than you can react.. its a double edged sword your gonna be walking on...

I think have Buschur install for me is alot better and safe for me.

I don't feel like blowing up my motor for $300 that is going to cost me to install the kit at Buschur. Thanks for the input guys

I drove my car from Halifax, NS to Gatineau, QC without boosting (~900 miles, 1400 km). It's not very hard to do on freeways, and that was on stock turbo.

I'm going to go ahead and be that guy.

You're going to spend well over a thousand dollars MORE just to have Buschur tune it over one of the many more than capable options (labor and travel specifically) as well as simplifying your mind in worry exponentially.

If you can install a turbo kit you can plug in an AEM box, plug in a MAP sensor, and install a cam/crank trigger wheel of you want to go that far.

Just have JohnBradley e-tune it and be done with it, saving yourself time, money, and frustration whilst still completing said task to its fullest potential.

I know it's not worth anything, but those are my .02.

You can do it....just have your injectors scaled stay under 10 psi which is more then enough to pass traffic....our engines aren't this fragile...even on a untuned map 10 psi to pass traffic your afrs depending on rpm should be in the 12s or 11s...... Just no wot and you'll be fine.....when my engine was breakin in for its first 1k I couldn't boost over 10 psi, afrs safe, wasn't a problem except climbin hills with less then half throttle was challenging.... So have it remote done just to get u there....
