I think with a full weight car you were just expecting too much. My car at 3420 ran 11.9@121 with about 440whp (VD DynoJet setting). Running 10's in a full weight car usually takes well into the 500whp range and 130+trap speeds.

i just see a lot of stock turbo full weight cars running around this same time. and don't you think I should be trapping speeds of around 124ish at 457awhp? all I'm hoping for is a mid 11 and I'll be happy. I just dumped so much money into this car to run a 12. I mean the bb fp red was $2500..

I built a car for a friend a few years ago. pretty much same spec as yours. fp red with drop in pistons, usual bolt ons. on pump it made 460whp 370tq. my opinion of the car was it was a complete ****. 12 flat sounds about right.

I also had the opportunity to drive this well planned well executed stock block fp red build. it was a complete different beast. a real animal to drive. the biggest difference was a simple meth kit which alloyed the turbo to be run where it becomes impressive. notice both setups are fully spooled at 4100rpm. yet one makes 370tq and the other 570tq.

Fwiw my 35r car that went 127 only made 408 on a mustang dyno with like 330 tq. So who knows how "accurate" a dyno actually is

That's why my favorite saying is "what's your dyno sheet trap?"

I have the SSL and other than weighing more than the moon, with 350-360whp I am only crossing the line 0.1 second behind you. There was another guy the same night I was at the track, roughly the same power on slicks and was pulling 11.4/5's like clockwork.

alright thanks guys. I also had my car thrown on a mustang dyno (I think it was calibrated to be more number friendly) and I made 416/360tq. Pull was only done to 6800 rpm due to car breaking up. strange how the torque was the same as my pull on a dynojet but the horsepower was different though. is it possible that the pull on the dyno jet that gave me 457/360tq was done in third gear giving me faulty numbers? thus giving me a reason for slower times at the track?

If you're stock block with ECU boost then he probably tuned the car to come in slow with power keeping the stock bottom end together. Guys with stock IX turbos run great because they make great torque curves and that's what gets you down the track with a quick ET. HP will get you a good trap speed.

And on your Dyno comment, most pulls are done in 3rd gear. Unless spinning is an issue, basically every tuner does 3rd gear

yes stock block but with a manual boost controller. if you look at the dyno sheet you can see I have a nice power band though. and I didn't know that, I thought they were done in 4th. thanks for the info

Makes sense, ran the numbers on the timeslips and I managed to pull a tenth on him by the 1/8 (same mph), but lost 5mph in the end.

Its funny that you mention that about the two dyno's because I had similar results. On my old setup which was a old school fp green/meth I would pull 386/365 on a dynojet and did 348/350 trq on a mustang dyno with no mod changes just slightly cooler weather on the mustang. Got to hit the track this year.

Yeah I feel the same about E85 not many stations and there's no possible way of traveling with it.
