Thumbs up Evo IX 429awhp, 414awtq

RRE, You Rock!

Just got my third tune from RRE. I would like to thank Scott and Mike for helping me bring my evo IX up to the level it was meant to be. Evo's are their bread and butter around these parts so they are simply the best choice for a dynotune.

The car made 429 awhp with 414 awtq on E85 AND 342 awhp with 313awtq. Stock turbo, no cams, no intake manifold, no aftermarket throttle body. More than enough for track and daily driving!

Below you will find my complete engine mod list and dyno graphs for both 91 and E85:

Mods:

ETS 3.5” Intercooler
ETS 2.5” LICP
ETS 2.5” UICP
Mil.Spec Throttle Shaft Seals
Catch Can
3 Port Electronic Boost Control Solenoid
Map Sensor
Spoolin up COP ignition System
Tread Stone 342lph Fuel pump
FIC 1050cc Fuel Injectors
Perrin Short Ram Intake
Evo X Diverter Valve (Crushed)
Tanabe 3" Cat Back Exhaust
Mil.Spec 3" High Flow Cat
Cobb Tuning 3" Down Pipe
02 Housing
MAPerformance Tubular Exhaust Manifold w/ egt

And now for the good stuff!

E85 Dyno:

91 Octane Dyno:

The car pulls smooth and strong all the way to redline with 0 knock on both maps with VERY little turbo lag. I am very pleased with the results!

For those of you who are still thinking about getting a dynotune or contemplating which place to go to in socal, just stop! You have found your answer.

Thanks again RRE and keep up the outstanding work!

Remove that magnet from your door before it ruins the paint behind it. Big difference in numbers e85 really makes a bunch of power.

Amazing that e85 is good for 100 hp!

that dyno reads about 6% higher than a dynojet from my experience, but even then your numbers are over 400 on a dynojet! the stock evo 9 cams kick *** with the stock turbo! i'm sure that is very fun to drive. you will never want to run 91 again

In honor of my cousin, Brain cancer awareness. Paint seems to be just fine thus far.

RRE tries to claim their Dynapak reads lower than a dynojet... lol

They might be right though. Now i'm not trying to prove my numbers to be at a higher level than a dynojet, but doesn't every dyno have a tolerance that you as a tuner set before? What if the folks at RRE set their dynopack to be harder on the cars power output thus reading lower than the dynojet?

Of course, unless you have two dynos next to each other and dyno the same car side by side, one after the other, with all variables considered, we will never know which reads higher or lower.

In the end, it is just a tool to measure where we started and where we end up.

I was under the impression that the heart break list goes like this:

Mustang Dyno - Hardest on the cars numbers
Dynopack - Middle
Dynojet - Easiest on the cars numbers and more widely used.

However, is it possible to set a Dynojet to read as hard as a Mustang Dyno? I thought it was just a matter of calibrating the rollers.

Ive lost good ones to f in cancer too. Ive seen those magnets gather condensation behind the magnet and screw up the paint.

Honestly, all dynos vary. Mustangs usually read lowest, although some people say 'you can set a Mustang to read whatever you want!' That's possibly true, I've never played with the software in one so I can't say.

Dynojets usually seem to be the middle, depending on where it's at. Dynapaks seem to read high as well, so both on average appear to read higher than a Mustang. However, remember that all dynos use SOFTWARE, which means they can be manipulated to an extent. Correction factor, anyone? So yes, you can have a dynapak that reads lower than a dynojet/mustang, and vice versa. So funny when dyno operators/noobs try to hate on Virtual Dyno... Virtual Dyno uses the same mathematics as a dyno, but actually has aerodynamics and resistance going into it.

Look at Church's infamous Dynapak, for example... it reads insanely high. Hondata said it reads 8-10% higher than your average Dynojet. A stock AP2 S2000 dynos about 225 whp on his Dynapak! On a dynojet they average 200-210. My Evo would probably do close to 600 whp on Church's dyno.

At the end of the day, it really is all a tuning tool, and the only way to really back it up is to run at the 1/4 mile and give an ET and trap speed.

There is a local to me Mustang that reads higher than a Dynojet

Enjoy the power! Stock turbo + e85 = always a good time
