For some reason I thought you had a larger motor, but yeah the 9:1 isnt going to make a difference on spool. Proper primary length and collector will help more....which I know isnt a problem for you.
On your 2.3 I think this would build boost even faster and make the same power at lower boost. The compression helps of course, but this I wsa only feeding 15* at 8K so I was keeping it on the safe side. The car sees a lot of trips to Mexico and you know how warm it can be there
That turbo yes. Also 3rd gear on these pulls, it hooked well enough it didnt need 4th to make it work right.

Do you suggest this turbo ?
Which precision turbo will you put on this car on a twinscroll setup for similar spool and power gains?

Based on what out of curiosity? I have done 622whp with that turbo and I feel I could have made more if I had pushed it. That was on a 9:1 motor with more restrictive exhaust and smaller cams as well.
A 5858 would just be more on the limit at 600+ power levels than the 6266.
I currently have a 5858, and honestly I have not pushed it hard, so I dont know where the upper limits are. but from what I gather, its a ~60lbs/min turbo. Judging from the HP figure you quoted, perhaps I am wrong?

I have never taken one over 32psi on the spike (dropped to 27 out the top) but I feel it has more in it. The car in question was also on a stock intake manifold. So I would hope there is more in the 5858 though
Combo is everything, as I always preach, and even with a good one (though not ideal) it made good power.

BTW Aaron,
I talked to a local turbo shop who sells BW and they have an Evo customer who was able to get 780whp on the corn at 40 psi out of the S362 FMW with the high response (flat blade) turbine wheel. Apparently there is a good bit left in that thing. S362 here I come!!
