7163 Evo 6 2.3 ltr

Been quite a while since I have been in this forum, still on the other side of the pond but moved away from Evo ownership for nearly a decade, bought my Evo 6Rs about 9 months ago and started to spec a 2 litre long rod engine with a 7163 internal wastegate full race kit. That then turned into a non mivec 2.3 litre build with a top mount 7670 internal kit.

To cut a long story short, I ended up with 2 kits. A 7163 and a 7670 both with internal wastegates and T4 flanges, the full race top mount manifold is still sat in the box and I now have a wider bore bottom mount manifold which allows me to keep the air con and run either the 7163 or the 7670 with a couple of pipe work modifications.

I got the car back from build in April. I am happy with the way the car goes on the 7163 despite the fact it isn't really a high revving setup. Lots of constant torque which makes for good fun at short sprint tracks but needs slightly more power up at the top end for top speed. The cams are wrong for the car, they are supposed to be tomei 272 but suspect they have been reprofiled at some point, to get the car to tick over sensibly there hardly any ignition advance whatsoever. Hopefully with a switch of cams we can dial a bit more ignition in.

Kelford have recommended 264, will see what happens over the next couple of weeks when it goes back on the dyno.

Car was mapped on 99 octane we get in UK. Boost was up at 2 bar. A bit of mild headwork with standard inlet manifold. Walbro 450 pump and injectors to suit.

I was hoping to hit 500/500 on our pump fuel, not quite there yet but will have final results with cam swap soon

I think the 264's may be not enough for your set up. For a 2.3, you should consider the GSC R2's.
