Well guys, impulse shopping last night got me parts to build myself a Green equivalent turbo.
With Tyler's help, I'll be copying his turbo except it will look like stock for our smog police. Since Tyler's car is also more modified, I'm only expecting 500-520whp (with stock TB, IM, & MAF). With a stock block, I recall Sam telling me that a Red will put down 540whp conservatively. So This turbo should end up about midway from my 71HTA and a Red.

The wheel sizes are the same as FP Green turbo (their FP54 except my turbine wheel will have 11 blades instead of their 9). Here are the pictures of what I saw when buying:

So after this turbo is built and balanced, I'll have 71HTA, 20G (Green equivalent), Red, and Black.

This is just for fun. Next is to learn to build trannsmissions and transfer cases.
Anyone out there knows how and wouldn't mind taking on a student?

Good luck with the turbo build, I've been toying with the idea of creating a "54-type" turbo as well using similar parts sourcing to what you guys are going to be doing. Will be watching this thread for updates and results.

Are you going to be using Kinugawa's 3" ported cover ?

I should have, but wasn't thinking of testing an intermediate step. So, I'll just test with non antisurge cover instead. I want to contribute to Tyler's experiments. I'll install this 20G billet wheel onto a stock exhaust and chra and test it on my 71hta tune. It is almost identical except the 20G wheel is slightly bigger, so we're expecting another 15 hp over the 71hta and very little lag more than the 71. Then I'll build the hotside and then get car retuned for this essentially Green turbo.
This will be fun. Lol
I just need to juggle it in my schedule.

Here is the turbine housing. It's not made by MHI but it's a good looking copy
