Lots on Knock, Virtual Dyno and Logs Inside. HTA Green, Help
I purchased a very neglected 2005 EVO 8 with 47K and I been fixing it slowly. Replace the blow transmission and transfer case with a TRE built drivetrain. Fixed hail damage, paint damage and some surface rust. Now I am tackling the performance.
The car had the following mods:
HTA Green 4" inlet
HKS 272 Cams
780cc Injectors
Titek O2 housing
3" Megan DP
Ported Stock Exhaust Manifold
Greedy EVO 2 exhaust with a Hi-flow CAT
FP MAF inlet
HKS super Mega flow intake
GFB Blow Off Valve
Muse Upper IC pipe
ETS 3.5 FMIC
ETS Lower IC pipe
Vishnu Adjustable Cam Gears
Fluid damper crank pulley
Hallman MBC
I just got a tactrix cable and log the car and noticed that has a 7 knock count at 22-23psi and at 20 psi pull 3 knock count. I cannot log AFR right now because I don't have the cable but it is on order. And I cannot log boost because it is still on the stock map sensor. I replace the spark plugs before doing the pulls.
The 317whp pull was at 23-22psi 11-11.2 AFR the 304whp pull was at 20psi 11-11.2 AFR.

AFR is in the ball park. I would lower the timing a few degrees from 3500-6000 as a start. These engines don't need a lot of timing to run. It also may be a good idea to run it on a chassis dyno and have the tune adjusted based on whats going on . A dyno on low smoothing is going to give you a better idea on whats happening in a controlled environment. It may cost a bit, but well worth it IMO.

Here is a new pull with some modifications. I change the ECU to Tephra V7 and change the timing map. This pull was at around 21psi peak and 10.8 AFR.
Does the whp sounds right for a HTA Green on 93oct?

Hard to say with VD, but you can lessen the timing ramp a bit, make it not hit 14* until MAYBE 8k. It may only even like 12-13* up there, and you should be able to run 26-27psi...

I think that if I add the two or three degrees of timing I might gain 20-30whp. Does 360-370whp sounds about right for my setup on 93oct?
I been thinking about getting injectors for E85 or another option is to upgrade the HTA green to a HTZ Red. I think either option will cost about the same and yield about the same power. The HTA Green 450whp on E85 and the HTZ Red 450whp on 93oct... Any suggestions?

I lower the timing one degree and did some pulls starting at 22-23psi and cracking the MBC up1/2 a turn (1 psi ??) after each run all the way to 26psi from what I could tell by looking at the gauge. I got the cable to log the wideband but I still need to get a new MAP sensor to log boost.

On 98 RON so around 93oct for the US guys around here i was like 308wkw which is around 415whp on a HTA green, stock block with HKS 280's on roughly 28-29 PSI . Im sure your set up has plenty more left in it. The cams will be holding you back though i believe

The hks 272 are costing you some hp up top for sure. I know from first hand experience. Search for some of my old threads of my dyno graphs and you can see a big hp jump from when I switched my hks 272 to gsc s3’s, but just going to a gsc s2 or kelford 272 will net you a nice hp increase.

When my Evo8 was in Usa and modified at Buschur: 1st gen Green, hks272 and other Buschur mods. The boost was around 26psi and it made 340whp on Bushcur dyno and 380whp on Dynojet. I think it was 92-93 pump gas there.
With the same tune it made 380whp here in Finland (98Ron) and it was later pushed to 28-29psi with Perrin intake pipe+air filter and made about 420whp (really cold dyno day and cooling air coming outside the building in winter and it helped a lot). But it was able to do over 400whp.
...so don't swap those hks272 cams yet. You should be able to do better numbers with your 73HTA green.

12-13* is plenty of timing, especially at only 7500rpm. Remember that timing is a multiplier, so, more timing exponentially increases cylinder pressure. The correct amount of timing is fine. But adding timing because you "think" it needs to be there isn't good.
