Circuit City Online Has Crap Service!!!!

Don't buy anything from Circuit City Online.

They sold me a crap Sony speaker the XS-V160HP.

It has been buzzing and vibrating since new, had to pull the door panels four times.

Damn thing only fails when it is hot, above 90 degrees.

They could care less about how much hassle they are causing me.

Only thing I am having problems with on my RS and I put it in.

Should have bought cheap speakers at Walmarts, at least they would take them back if they were crap.

Sucks,

Well the issue would be the quality control on sonys side...not circuit city. They just sell what sony provides and assumes that it is a good product that has been thru qc.

I agree that Sony should not have allowed these speakers to go out the door with their name on them.

But Circuit City should stand behind what they sell, if Sony F'ed up, they should take the speaker back without blaming the customer.

Nothing was defective about the money I sent Circuit City Online.

If you order from them Online, you should expect very poor warranty service.

I had a general good impression of the Circuit City franchise, ther online branch sucks pond water.

I will never buy from them again.

A local store might be OK, but this online sevice is crap.

Wait a minute... did you say Circuit City online sold you a set of sony speakers?? as in did you call them or use the site and they gave you a list of speakers that would work with that car? Because their website doesnt sell you this stuff... you have to pick it to buy it and pay for it all yourself! Also like Michubishi said, those are crap speakers if you were trying to save yourself some money INSTEAD of going with **** walmart speakers then you did a good thing, but if you thought you were getting high quality stuff you are mistaken my friend. Sony's quality in speakers for in-car has gone down hill over the past 5-7 years and they havent really done much to improve it, next time i would suggest doing a little more homework on the types of speakers that are out there and the quality you are looking for when you buy... and for god sakes buy speakers in a store! You can listen to them there!!!!

This was not meant to bash, just an FYI

you are spot on..... except sonys speakers have always been crap

contact sony directly, cc doesnt handle warranty claims unless you bought their service plan.

or suck it up and go buy some good coaxial speakers (boston s65, sx65, jl tr650, polk momo ) there are quite a few good speakers for 100 to 150
buy speakers from a company that specializes in speakers

actually when you buy from cc you do get 30 days with cc and then if you dont buy the service plan you have to deal with the manufacture and i would have at least gone to see them in the store b4 i bought them.. and in teh car audio world you really do get what you pay for

I did quite a bit of checking on speakers, very little real info, lots of opinions, like the ones offered here.

I have an EVO RS, I did not want a full blown audio system, just an OK one.

Crutchfield Sells Sony, and rated these ok.

They have a wider Freq response than most and a good sensitvity rating. Since I was not going to run an amp, that seemed like a reasonable set of specs.

They fit an EVO door fine with the .25" adapter rings.

The sound is OK, except for the one speaker.

I have been complaining to CC online since Aug 4th, still don't have a resolution.

That plus their attitude is crappy service.

I went with an online source since the closest CC is an 180 mile round trip.

Spend your money how and where you like, I just wanted to warn other buyers.

No need to trash me or talk about how cheap I am, thats pointless, I bought a name brand from a name brand company. That should have been good enough.

I'm sorry, but buying speakers based on their specs is even more misguided than doing the same with a car. Next time, find an independent shop in your area, listen to their recommendations, have them do the install and they'll back-up their work. You chose to take the cheap way out and you got substandard results. I understand that your point differs in hoping to "warn" others, but I'm not entirely sure how many folks share your priorities.
