not entirely accurate....you can't INPUT a new destination that isn't STORED in destination history or "home" or "go to". you can't type in a new street address or search for one, unless you do it by voice command.

the dvd you can't use period while you're driving, unless you get the workaround.

Ok maybe a stupid question, but I have the AVIC-D2, does the relay work for all AVIC-XX models?

If you make sure to get a z1 that is built after July, the bypass is extremely simple. I had my z1 installed in my m3 and it worked like a charm. You have to ground the ebrake and pull one of the unused wires out of the harness, place into a specific opening in the other harness and ground it. Sounds a little strange but takes two minutes. I can watch movies, change address, etc because the unit thinks the car is parked and has the ebrake on.

To the ILL wire out of the stereo harness. If you're asking this question you're not using a wiring harness I'm betting. Stop by a stereo shop and pick one up to vastly simplify your installation. It has everything but the speed and reverse wires (well parking brake as well but you won't be using that if you use a bypass).

I actually am using a wiring harness...I don't think my friend hooked up the ILL.

I have the exact same combo, to be honest though the Orbital does not fit too well. I had to kind of tape a piece of plastic to even out the gaps. It does however make the interior much nicer.
