Its Official, the tach wire available!

after wasting the whole weekend installing for the first time an alarm system, a compustar remote start and security to be exact was installed today. I search this database and so far no one has figured out the tach wire at the back of the instrument cluster which was an easy access. Well, today finally after checking all wires I was able to get the tach wire and confirmed by my compustar main unit. it is the solid green wire with silver markings which is just beside the green/white wire with silver markings. It is located in the left side of the back of the instrument cluster.

the turbo timer is working also, I just have figure out how to work this remote

Why would the tach wire be important for an alarm system?

Also, i believe others had to have found this before, because i have seen working aftermarket tachs in Evo's before; so where do they connect those to make them read accuratly?

I connected my Revlight to the tach wire near the ECU.

yup they said it to be the green/white, black/green, black/yellow from the behind the instrument cluster but I tested all wires and did not work! So, whoever said that it were those wires must be mistaken. yes, the tach wire is for the auto/remote start alarm system like compustar or 791 Vipers. I understand for using the ECU but the instrument cluster was very accessible!

if I recall, the tach wire on the ECU should be the same color since its what goes to the instrument panel, I had the same problem early on..

I think He's talking about an 06.. the wiring diagrams aren't as easy to come by and the ECU wiring harness is different than the 02-05...

I noticed that after connecting the tach wire, my evo revs freely when shifting. does it mean I have removed the rev limiter?

finally got to install the 507M(tilt/motion detector) and the 508D(perimeter/proximity sensor and tried it out with the compustar-it works! btw, the optional sensor input from the diagram of compustar is inverted: 1st should be 2nd stage and vice versa. I got the (-)ground when armed from the violet starter kill/anti-grind wire. I was planning to piezo interior siren but I do not wnat to experience it first hand. for would be diy help just post or PM.
