The value of any alarm is in the installation. Not much difference between systems.

I have the compustar and have nothing but good things to say about it. I have had several alarms (DEI) and this is by far the best one yet. Good luck and make sure you get it intalled by a authorized dealer. They have the support of the manufacturer if there are any problems. Also if it is not installed by a autorized tech some warenties are voided.

THe G5 removed the stick shift remote start feature, DEI lawyers were afraid of liability. The Avantgaurd and Solaris G4 were the ultimate security systems though. I have an Avantgaurd G4 in my car with multiple wireless disables and the GPS tracking. I also have an FM 2 way transmitter that wasn't marketed that connects to the data port and gives me 1/4 mile city range plus the pagemate interface for telephone control.

i think one of the only companies to still support manual transmission remote starts is compustar. and like 949 said they are coming out with a new model right now.

at compustar.com, they have a review of one of the new compustar alarms from some magazine. the editors liked it a lot.
