where to get alarm installed

well guys and gals, last night after getting home from work i went to put my shoes in the closet (like always) and I found a wrapped present, i was shocked. My beautiful girlfriend said it was an early christmas gift. well it turned out to be a 791xv viper alarm. She was so cute. anyhow i want to get it installed and installed right. i also want to add more sensors but dont know what else (tilt, etc.). Also, i am kind of confused with the tt deal. i have one already, will it still work, and what should i expect to pay for installation? and where should i go for installation., best buy, circuit city, tweeters, or individual retailer? im ins the riverside county area, but thought of going to LA, somewhere where no one knows my car. i feel that if i do it locally they might not install it right, and steal it. thanks for you time.

Any shop that carries DEI (viper/clifford) is best. 120 is about half what we charge, im skeptical. The proximity sensor is a nice option, dont need a tilt if you have that, i would MAKE SURE they wire a hood and trunk trigger. Are you having them install the remote start feature?

are you looking for the remote start to work? if so best buy circuit, lots of places cant do it legally.... doesnt mean you cant get it done. as far as the turbo timer goes, you can get rid of yours and just use the one with the 791... excellent system. i have it on mine...

as far as extra options, you can do a proximity sensor, tilt sensor, temp/time mod (if the temp outside gets below a certain degree, the car starts, or if you always leave your house a certain time ie: 7:00am you can have it start at 6:50am for you) audio sensor (glass breaks and has a certain frequency that this audio sensor picks up) battery back up, pizo sirens, etc etc, you could even do a trunk pop if you by a few extra parts....

Do you really think that beacuse a store has a dealer agreement their installers are competent? I guess every Mitsu tech is excellent because they sell the cars there?

Just like evrything else you buy, do some homework. Go to a shop and ask about an alarm? Ask to visit the install bay and see a sample of their work. Look under the dash, check out the shop, ask how long the installer has been working there, how long in the industry? There aren't many really good shops out there but they aren't hard to find.

well thanks for all the feed back. Audio city charged $100.00 w/o prox sensor, nor hood or trunk pin, just basics. Works great looked underdash and cant see anything. Audio city could not do prox sensor because they carry python and wasnt compatiable. also went to best buy and talked to installer, they said that installing prox sensor, hood and trunk pops, would cost $200 w/ parts and labor. what do you guys think. Question how is the tt programmed, and should i take mine of, because i can put alarm with my hks tt. anyway to bypass.

which system do you have>? with dei usually the turbo timer has to be programed with the valet switch, and in order to activate it you have to push the * and aux at the same time when you are about to turn off your car.

if you buy the dei proximity sensor 508d, it is a plug and play as long as you know where the alarm unit is. you can even add the 507t or 507m which is a tilt and motion detector since it will use the same wiring you have with the 508d. yes it will work with the 791xv.

for the 791 its going to be an option in the program menu then that you have to get to using the valet switch, the place you had it installed at should have set this up for you. but once activated you press the * and aux together and it turns on

your alarm should come with a kill switch relay. another source of a killswitch is always better. hooking up a alarm is kinda easy , you just need the wiring diagram n your all set. i put my compustar in my evo in a few hrs. good luck

I have installed an alarm on 2 EVOs. It's not difficult at all, just time consuming. Good luck.
