guage cluster Q

hi all, im new here. figured i'd intro myself and try and get a little Q&A at the same time. i own an 03 evo. pretty much stock. few problems with it though. clear coat's screwing up on the wing, clear coat on the rotors is doing the same, multiple misfire code keeps poppin up, some kind of metal in the lower front of the engine is vibrating like crazy during engine braking (guessing its a heat sheild), the heat sheild around the drive shaft area did the same thing so i had to remove it. love the car and its looks, just sick of all the problems that keep poppin up.

so here's the Q. will the guage cluster from an evo fit into my friends 03 OZ Rally?
he's trying to put evo interior and exterior parts on it.

and if you have and solutions to my cars problems, that would be appreciated also

Get the exact engine code its throwing so we can help out better.

Get under the car to see if you can feel around to find what is loose or vibrating. It could also be alignment, unbalanced tires, or warped rotors.

Yea, 99% sure it will fit. Every gauge pod I've seen for the evo fits the lancer, and vice versa. The evo and lancer interiors are nearly identical.

thanks for the help. actually the misfire code is 300. and the tires are brand new and balanced....its gotta be a piece of heat shielding on the lower front of the engine, it only does it when im at high rpms and let my foot off the gas while its still in gear (engine braking) which causes a lot of vibration.....i looked under there to find out you have to pull off all the plastic underbelly to even be able to see anything.

have you ever had the timing belt replace? do you feel it in the gas pedel? if so, balance shaft pulley is 180 degrees out of phase.
for the mult misfire, try the BR8ES or the BPR8ES spark plugs and gap them to 0.026-0.028. that seems to help. and if your under warranty, go to the dealer and get your ecu reflashed for that problem. there is a TSB (technical service bulletin) on this situation.

the clear coat on the calipers and win will also have to be handled by the dealer. it should be replaced under warranty, unless u go to a crappy dealership

More engine vibration under mid to high rpm. It will be very noticiable. It can be better or worse on some cars. It all depends on the crank, as some are better balanced than others.

NGK spark plugs. also do you have any mods? 8's may be too cold, they also foul easier if you do a lot driving in traffic. I have had the best luck with NGK BR7ES only throw the P300 about once a month, my car is a daily driver so lot of time sitting at stop lights which seems to be the only time I get the P300. Hope this helps.
