Just ordered the 9856 from Crutchfield after reading this thread! Can't wait. Got some questions though. FOr connecting an Ipod which adapter did you use? Is it this one?http://www.crutchfield.com/S-7Ln6obM...p?I=500KCE422I

The stock speakers sound 1000000x better with this deck installed. Wow, what a difference

I just put this unit in today and it is loud! It does make the stock speakers sound good. Still playing with the treble and bass settings.

Did you guys wrap the whole harness in electrical tape? Just wondering because for me I just zip tied them.

I also just installed that exact head unit. I also upgraded the front speaker with a pair of JL Audio 2-ways, JL Audio 10 sub in the trunk and an Alpine 4-channel amp. The car sounds incredible and it hasn't yet been properly tuned. I will take some pics and list the parts.

As i said, I run the same head unit as the one previously shown. A friend of mine designed this setup for me and it is intended to provide the best bang for the buck.

10 JL Audio Sub 4ohm (10W1v2-4)
6.5" JL Audio 2-way speakers (TR650 CXi)
Alpine 4-channel amp (MRP F250)

If anyone is interested I can post the setting on the head unit as well as the amp crossover points.

I have an Alpine CDA-9855 and the Ipod adaptor installed as of today. Install was a breeze and the sound is awesome. I have the Ipod sitting in a protective case in the glove box. This HU is a bit older and I had to buy the $99.00 kit. There is a newer kit for newer HU's that is only a cable. I would suggest this upgreade for anyone with my headunit and an Ipod.

Yes, it is stupid easy to do. You won't use the sleeve that comes with the deck(9856). Just bolt on the brackets that you have from your old stock deck.

Yes, you can, but we get the shaft on features. There are none. basically you buy the rear aux connection and proper rca's to mini plug and hook it into the headphone connection on your Zune.

I wish someone would create a adapter from Ipod to Zune. Then we could use all the Ipod accessories.

Bringing one back for a ?? What's the big difference between this (9856) HU and the 9857? I see the display is a tad different, but why the $150 difference?? I'm gonna go ahead and assume the 9857 is the newer model year, and I think it has some additional bass engine or tuning features. I did a side by side comparison on crutchfield and don't notice anything spectacular.....Thanks....
