Alpine 9856 + Ipod Installed
I installed an Alpine 9856 and Ipod this evening....Looks and SOUNDS AMAZING even with the stock speakers. The hardest / most time consuming part was finding a good grounding point (which for the record is to the right of the OBDII port). I ran the Ipod interface cable behind the dash (easy) and into the glove box. The Ipod sits (velcro'd to) in the glovebox very nicely.
I think this will last me a bit and then I will add good amp, nice components up front, maybe rears, and a small but nice sub.

The Alpine kicks azz! I did the same thing you did with the 9857 +Ipod except, I grounded it with one of the 4 screws holding it inplace and I relocated the radio.
So for all of you Alpine / Ipod users ....here is the question -- can you leave the Ipod overnight?? It appears to be still drawing power after the car is off, so I am concerned that this will over time kill my car battery...Thanks

Got the same setup (9856 + IPod) in Mrs. LayinLo's Camry. I put in about 2 weeks ago as an early Christmas present.
Cij911: I don't think you'll have any problems with power consumption. Even with a mini battery.
