Front speaker mounting depth? Models?

Hey guys. Anybody know how deep of a speaker will fit into the stock location without spacers? Or, what speakers have you used without much modification? I've got a set of Rainbow comps on the way, they're not too deep but I just wanted to know if I should anticipate making spacers.

For speakers as nice as Rainbow or SEAS, you guys might want to consider making MDF mounting brackets. You'll need mounting brackets regardless of which speaker you put in the front or rear...and ABS plastic brackets won't do your speakers justice. If you make your MDF brackets 1/2" thick, you won't have any issues with mounting depth.

You won't have to change the door panel at all. I mounted my JL Audio components on 1/2" MDF bracket in the front doors. Stock door panel snaps right back into place. Nothing to worry about there.

Check out my install thread...first 10 pics on the first page...

what worries me is that the mounting depth of the seas is really deep, it's not the fact that opening on the evo is large but I don't know if there is room beacuse of the mounting depth

The opening is 6.75" and that is why you will need a mounting bracket.

I understand that what I am worried about is the depth not the diamater of the opening. If the depth in the door is only say 2.5" and my speakers need 3.5" then I will mosty likely not be able to get them in there with out cutting the door panel.

Holy Jesus! 3.5" depth! Well, they definitely won't fit without a spacer/bracket. You'll need at least .75" thick...maybe even 1" thick.

I still think they'll fit. On the inside of the plastic door panel, there is plenty of room for a thick bracket. You may need to do a little trimming, but overall, I don't think you'll need to modify the part of the door panel that faces the inside of the car.

At 2.25" you're fine. My speakers are 2.65" deep. My MDF brackets are 1/2" thick and the stock door panels easily fit over them. You're fine

Thats cool.

2.25" is fine.

I recommended the spacer because then you will definitely have enough room and will have soom space for dynamat behind the speaker.
