Annoying Problem, Help me!
After several hours of wiring my amp and jl8 sub, the time came to turn on the car and see what this puppy can do. Well I turned the car on and the amp didnt turn on. When i was putting in my Headunit I noticed that the amp will turn on when i have the antenna wire unplugged from the headunit, but this also causes the radio to not turn on. With the antenna plugged in the radio is on but the amp is not. I am now sure that both components are in working order and I just want to figure out why they wont work together. I have the remote wire connected properly and I used a harness to install the radio. The headunit is a siruis sat\HD radio. Do i need a specific antenna to have them work together. any help would be greatly appreciated.
well it doesnt sound like you have a proper ground for your radio. check that over. and as far as your amp not turning on get a multimeter and check at the amp to see if it isnt getting 12v at the constant sorce or the remote source.
Proper ground for the radio? Well the radio is installed with a harness so i would assume the ground is fine because it is working and sounds great. I already was told to check if there was 12v at the remote wire and there is. When i have the antenna unplugged and the amp is on it also displays 12 volts on one of the display settings (digital apline amp)

well i thought you had said when you unplug your antenna your radio does not turn on. even though you used a harness that may just plug right in, there is no ground wire, so you have to take it and put it to a "ground" -metal. the antenna most the times will serve as a good enough ground.
so when the antenna is unplugged your amp turns on?
Yeah..if you "just" used the wiring harness theres no ground on there bro. Sometimes the antenna will be enough ground to make a radio turn on and leave some people stumped when it starts shutting off and having problems. Double check the ground like evo4 suggested. also make sure it is connected to the blue/white on the radio harness not the blue(if there is one..usually its powerantenna lead)

sweet! nothing like chicks who roll in Evo's, I guess i got so use to a bunch of angry dudes on these forums arguing about flow rates and flash tuners. The project will have to wait until i purchase another headunit. I realized that the black wire on the harness was definitley the ground wire and i need to recconect the remote. thanks for the input guys & girls*

good luck, let me know if you need any other input
