I dont know if your talking about the 1st gen or 2nd gen alpine ipod interface but if you think the 2nd gen(*blue harness on the radio "full speed connection") is slow hahaa try their first one..... this is mUCH faster IMO. Not AS fast as an ipod but it has the quick search to make up for it

+1 on the current fullspeed interface. As much as I don't care for what Alpine has done with their models the last three years, I do have to give props to their ipod fullspeed interface. The ones I've played with had no lag whatsoever and scrolled just as fast as the ipod itself. This is a pretty cool idea. I for one listen to 99% of my music from my ipod. Although, I still buy cd's and rip them to my ipod, and this would kill the thrill of popping in a new release first thing. But, I guess it's a sign of the times.

I just installed this head unit this past weekend. I've got an Evo IX with SSL package. It installed easily using the power wiring (METRA) adapater and MITAH adapter (to keep the stock amps/speaks/sub). Overall, I'm pretty happy with it so far. The iPod integration is much better than anything else on the market. Iv'e got a 2nd Gen Nano and it hooks directly up via the USB port. Nearly instantaneous track access and it shows the album artwork...which is pretty cool. The navigation is very easy...it's exactly like your iPod. Sound quality seems better than the stock head unit. I'm happy with it. Will post pix when I get a chance to take some.
Just wanted to let you guys know that I'm going to return the ida-x001. Nothing wrong with it...the ipod integration is awesome and the sound is good. I just want a double-din head unit with navigation. Thank goodness I bought it from Crutchfield and can return it without any hassle.
